Aerosmith is giving its fans a special treat this fall.
The band announed today that it will release its new live recording Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 on Friday, September 4th. That is just in time for anyone making plans for their annual Labor Day Weekend festivities. The twenty-song set will be available on a variety of formats including: Blu-ray + 2CD, DVD +2CD, DVD +3LP, and digital formats for North American audiencs. It will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, DVD + 2CD, and DVD + 3LP in Europe and ROW along with digital platforms. The performance featured on the upcoming reealse was taken from the band’s headlining performance at the 2014 Download Festival, which was just one performance from the band’s Let Rock Rule Tour.” It features performances of some of Aerosmith’s biggest hits including: ‘Love in an Elevator,’ ‘Janie’s Got a Gun,’ ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing,’ ‘Dude Looks Like a Lady,’ ‘Walk This Way,’ ‘Dream On,’ ‘Sweet Emotion,’ ‘Toys in the Attic,’ ‘Mama Kin’ and a number of others. Front man Steven Tyler shared his thoughts on the band’s performance with the media noting the band’s enjoyment during its performance and how his thoughts of so many other greats performing there played into his enjoyment. “It’s always an absolute hoot that leaves me howling at the moon, performing at Donington we couldn’t have had a better time on stage that night,” he said. “I could feel the vibes of all the greats pulsing through the stage like AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica and so many more.”
Guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford shared the sentiment that Aerosmith’s performance at the 2014 Download Festival was one that really stood out as one of the band’s best at least for that festival. As Perry noted, “We have played Donington many times but this performance was one of our best.” He noted that for him personally the fans that were there in attendance played a big role in making it so special. “Thanks to our fans who were there who helped us make it a night to remember. ” He added onto that sentiment the belief that it will be just as special for audiences that weren’t lucky enough to be there, saying, “We are proud to have it be part of this theatrical series and it will give our fans who weren’t there around the world a chance to relive an ass kicking night of rock and roll.” Whitford shared Perry’s sentiment saying, “We’re really proud and grateful to have been chosen to headline the Download festival at Donington for 2014.” He added “It was an awesome experience and I think this film captures it. Special thanks to the insane fans who stuck with us through mud and rain.”
Drummer Joey Kramer and bassist Tom Hamilton echoed the thoughts of Perry and Whitford with Kramer stating, “I’m grateful to have been able to play this show at Donington. I thought the band played great, the audience was great. That night was a very special time.” Hamilton added in “We’re really proud and grateful to have been chosen to headline the Download festival at Donington for 2014. It was an awesome experience and I think this film captures it. Special thanks to the insane fans who stuck with us through mud and rain.”
