Early next year, veteran rock band Anthrax will release its latest full-length studio album. The album is currently slated for an early 2016 release, though right now there’s no word on a concrete date for its release or title. Even without either element, the band has officially kicked off the campaign to promote what will be its eleventh full-length studio recording with the debut of the album’s lead single ‘Evil Twin.’
Anthrax debuted ‘Evil Twin’ and its companion lyric video this week. The song takes on the world’s political and religious leaders and the far-reaching effects of both parties’ actions on the world’s citizenry. Anthrax bassist Frank Bellow said the most of the song in the least wording by saying, “It’s a song that begs to be played live.” In regards to the song’s musical makeup, drummer Charlie Benante noted Anthrax’s recent time on the road alongside Death Angel and Exodus as inspiration for the song’s musical content. “Yeah, that opening riff is really evil,” he said. “We had done a lot of touring with Death Angel and Exodus, so I was in a really thrashy state of mind when I starting writing the riffs for that song. I think along with Scott’s lyrics and Frank’s melodies, we came up with a really great, old school thrash metal feel.”
