There’s a new live concert festival coming to Texas this summer.

The Houston Open Air Festival will be held Saturday, September 24th and Sunday, September 25th.  The two-day festival will be held at NRG Park in Houston.  It is being presented by Danny Wimmer Presents, which is also the organization behind some of the nation’s biggest music festivals including: LOUDER THAN LIFE, Chicago Open Air, Monster Energy Welcome To Rockville, Monster Energy Fort Rock, Monster Energy AFTERSHOCK, Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Monster Energy Rock Allegiance, Rock On The Range and more.

The festival’s official lineup will be announced on Tuesday, May 16th at noon CDT/1 pm ET along with lots more details about the event.  Early bird tickets for the festival will go on sale Wednesday, May 17th.  They will be available for purchase online at the festival’s official website.  Danny Wimmer, head of Danny Wimmer Presents, discussed bringing the festival to Houston in a recent interview with the media.  He noted that he had kept an eye on the city for some time and expectations for the festival.  “We’re excited to bring a new rock festival to Houston,” he said.  I have been looking at Houston for years. The market has all the elements needed for a unique destination festival: a strong rock community, a vibrant food scene, and a love of great whiskey and craft beer. We’re looking forward to bringing the Houston market a full festival experience with top rock bands, showing the rest of the country all that Houston has to offer, and helping to showcase some of the reasons that the Washington Post named Houston as one of the Top 5 food cities in America.”

The entertainment (in terms of food, drink, and music) is just the tip of the iceberg for the upcoming festival.  Organizers have also been in talks with the mayor’s office to highlight at the festival, local disaster relief efforts and fundraising that have been undertaken in recent months.  This is in response to the devastation that has hit the area due to recent flooding.  Those looking to help in those efforts are encouraged to donate to Houston Recovers at its official website.

Hotel discounts for the festival are available online now via the Curadora link at the festival’s official website.  More information on that and more is available online now at:
