ESPN Networks To Carry Comprehensive Coverage Of The 2016 NBA Finals

The matchup for the 2016 NBA Finals is now official.  The Golden State Warriors will continue their record-setting season and defend their title against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals.  And the ESPN networks will have full coverage of the season’s final series.

The 2016 NBA Finals tip off this Thursday, June 1st on ABC.  It marks the 14th time that ABC has covered the NBA Finals.  Coverage of Game One is set to begin at pm ET.  The same applies to each weeknight Finals broadcast.  Coverage for Sunday games begins at 8pm ET.  Each game will be preceded by a half-hour, on-site edition of NBA Countdown on ABC.  Sage Steel will anchor each broadcast.  She will be joined on site by analysts Doug Collins and Jalen Rose.  It will be the third year that the trio will handle pre-game duties together at the NBA Finals.  As an added bonus for fans Paul Pierce, 10-time NBA All-Star and 2008 NBA Finals MVP, will join Steel and company as a special guest analyst for select games.    Each game will be simulcast on television on ABC and ESPN Deportes, on the radio via ESPN Radio, and online via WatchESPN.

Mike Breen will anchor each game’s broadcast.  He will be joined by analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, and reporter Doris Burke.  Former NBA official Steve Javie will be live from the NBA replay center in Seacaucus, NJ for additional commentary.  This year’s broadcast is a record for Van Gundy.  It will be the 11th Finals for Breen.  Jeff Van Gundy will make his 10th appearance covering the NBA Finals.  The full schedule for this year’s broadcast of the NBA Finals is noted below.

On the radio side, NBA Hall of Famer Hubie Brown will have the call for each game.  It will be his 15th year covering the NBA Finals.   This includes coverage on both radio and television.  That is the most for any NBA commentator.  Play-by-Play vet Kevin Calabro will join Brown on ESPN Radio for coverage of the NBA Finals along with reporters Marc Stein and Shelley Smith.  Marc Kestecher and Jon Barry will handle pre-game and halftime duties live from the ESPN Radio studios.  Each weeknight broadcast of the NBA Finals on ESPN Radio begins at 8pm and Sunday games at 7pm ET.
