YES is heading back out on the road.

The veteran prog rock band has announced that it will embark on what it has dubbed “The Album Series” tour beginning next Monday, July 25th in Lancaster, PA.  The tour’s schedule consists largely of performances throughout the Northeast, Midwest, and West Coast with just one date in the Mid-Atlantic region.  That date is August 16tth in Washington, D.C.  The band will perform its 1980 album Drama in its entirety at each stop as well as Sides 1 and 4 of its 1973 album Tales From Topographic Oceans throughout the 28-date tour.

When the band takes to the road next week drummer Alan White will be sitting out, but only temporarily.  White recently underwent surgery to repair an injured disc in his lower back.  So he will be replaced by close friend of the band Jay Schellen until doctors deem him able to re-join his band mates.  White released a letter to fans Monday outlining the surgery and his plans for the immediate future, reassuring them that he has every intention of getting back behind the kit as soon as possible.  The letter read in part, “”I’m eager to be on the road with the band, but also need to ensure my recovery is complete before doing so.  In referencing Schellen’s appointment, White wrote, “Please welcome him to our YES family; he’s doing a great service by stepping in last-minute so as to not disappoint everyone hoping to see YES music performed live this summer.”

Yes guitarist Steve Howe recently spent some time with Rock Radio Revisited ahead of the tour’s launch.  During his interview, he discussed the tour, the albums that it will cover and much more.  Audiences can read the interview here now.  The band’s current tour schedule is noted below.
