Liftmaster Is Giving Garage Bands Nationwide Their Own “Lift” With New Contest

A garage door manufacturer is giving garage bands across the nation to make it big.

Liftmaster Presents Battle of the Garage Bands is a new contest created by garage door manufacturer Liftmaster.  In order to be entered into the contest, bands simply upload videos of themselves performing an original song at  Audiences will vote on their favorite videos, and after two rounds of voting the contest’s top two bands will be flown to Chicago, IL to compete live.

The first voting session is currently open and ends June 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET.  The second session begins June 12 and ends July 7.   Bands wanting to enter the contest can do so until May 31.

The live competition, which will be held July 23 at 1st Ward Events, will be judged by Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) , Chip Z’Nuff (Enuff Z’Nuff) and producer Johnny K (Finger Eleven, Disturbed, Staind, Plain White Ts). The bands to face off will be notified that they are the finalist on July 8. The winning band will get to have their new single produced by Johnny K.

Along with the new song’s production, the winning band will also have its song sent to more than 1,000 radio stations nationwide, various video networks, 300 limited edition CD singles, and will get a 5-day mini-tour complete with posters, gear and more.

More contest information and rules is available at the contest’s website.  Proceeds raised through the contest will benefit Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.  The organization provides financial aid to career musicians struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability or age-related problems.
