Reckless Kelly is re-issuing its debut album.
The veteran country/rock outfit will re-issue its 1997 album Millican on Oct. 20 on a special double LP vinyl release to mark the 20th anniversary of the album’s original release. The record will be released via the band’s own label, No Big Deal Records.
Pre-orders are open now for the re-issue, which is limited to only 1,000 copies. It will include two bonus tracks not included in the original release – ‘Wild Western Windblown Band’ and ‘Millican.’ Audiences can hear ‘Wild Western Windblown Band’ now via Soundcloud.
Along with the record’s new vinyl pressing, fans who order the record will also get a digital download card, CD copy of Millican, T-shirt and koozie. Band member Willia Braun said of the re-issue that the band never originally intended to release the album on vinyl, but felt its vinyl re-issue was fitting because of the current musical climate.
“When we made Millican we never thought to release it on vinyl,” Braun said. “Casettes were still being phased out CDs were the new big deal, and we’d just heard about this thing called “the internet.” Now that ironically, vinyl is the new big deal, we’ve decided that Millican deserves as place in the record collection. It was, after all, recorded to tape (something that only the cool cats were doing at the time) so it seems fitting to have an all analogue version available for the die hards.”
