Armored Saint is going to be very busy this summer.

The band recently announced new live dates in South and North America, with a string of live dates in South America coming first. The veteran hard rock band’s week-long tour in South America, which runs from June 2 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to June 8 in Bogota, Colombia, will be its first time ever touring the continent.  That tour schedule is noted below.

Armored Saint tour dates
June 2 – Buenos Aires, AR @ Uniclub
June 3 – Sao Paulo, BR @ Fabrique Club
June 5 – Lima, PE @ Discoteca Cocos
June 7 – Santiago, CL @ La Batuta
June 8 – Bogota, CO @ TBC

While the tour will be the first for Armored Saint, front man John Bush, who has toured the continent previously, said he was looking forward to the trip.

“I went to South America twice with Anthrax and can easily say that those were some of the best shows I did in my life,” Bush said.  “The rabid fans of places like Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile are die hards of music.  Their enthusiasm is unprecedented.  Also looking forward to going to Colombia for the first time.  Can’t wait!  The Saint’s Latin roots should be in full force.  It’s a perfect match.”

Bassist Joey Vera said he was also looking forward to the first-time trip to South America.

“After 35 long years, we’re finally going to tour in South America,” Vera said.  “The long wait was bitter, but the experience playing for you all will be oh so sweet.  See you soon.”

Bush said of SOS that it was and is Armored Saint’s most important album to date.

Symbol of Salvation! Arguably Armored Saint’s most important record,” Bush said.  These songs came out of us being dropped from Chrysalis Records and finding out about guitarist Dave Prichard developing leukemia.  The songs took on a much more emotional meaning than any other previous record.  We wrote songs of desperation like ‘Another Day’ and ‘Last Train Home,’ experimental tunes like ‘Tainted Past’ and ‘The Truth Always Hurts’ and classic Saint rockers like ‘Rein of Fire,’ ‘Dropping Like Flies’ and the title track.”

Bush added what happened after those trials was critical to the band’s life and that he and the band are looking forward to the upcoming North American dates.

“After Dave passed, the band regrouped, with Phil and Jeff returning as the guitar tandem.  It was a family again,” Bush said.  “Dave Jerden produced the record and this marked the beginning of Joey becoming the producer of the band.  It’s going to be a memorable tour.  Songs like ‘Burning Question’ and ‘Spineless’ we’ve never played live before.  Come share it with us.  Let’s make Dave proud.”
