ESPNEWS Adding New Sports Betting, Information Program To Its Lineup

ESPN is launching a new sports betting program.

The network made the announcement in a news release sent Friday.  the release announced the program, Daily Wager is meant to educate sports fans about teams and sports, and about sports wagering.

Daily Wager is scheduled to debut at 6 p.m., March 11 on ESPNEWS.  The one-hour program is scheduled to air Monday-Friday in that time slot.

ESPN Vice President and Executive Editor of Studio Production Norby Williamson talked about the decision to launch the show in a recent interview.

“ESPN’s mission is to serve sports fans,” Williamson said.  “the sports betting environment has changed, and interest is increasing at unprecedented levels.  ESPN is going to have a strong and vibrant presence across our platforms, and the launch of Daily Wager is the next step in what has already been underway for some time.”

Contributors such as “Stanford” Steve Coughlin, Chris “The Bear” Fallica” and Anita Marks will contribute to the program, along with figures, such as David Purdum, Preston Johnson and Joe Fortenbaugh.

Daily Wager is just the latest sports betting program that the ESPN networks airs.  It already airs Behind the Bet with Doug Kezirian as a podcast and the Stanford Steve and the Bear podcast during football season.
