Brian Setzer and his Stray Cats band mates are set to release the band’s new album next month, and in anticipation, the band debuted the album’s new single and video this week.
The band debuted the song ‘Rock It Off‘ Thursday along with the song’s companion video. The song’s musical content presents the band’s familiar rockabilly sound while its lyrical content presents a positive message about going out, dancing and just having a good time.
‘Rock It Off’ is taken from the band’s forthcoming album 40. The record is scheduled for release May 24 through Surfdog Records. It is the band’s first album in 26 years. The album’s title is a nod to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the band’s founding.
Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom talked about ‘Rock It Off’ in a recent interview, saying it is one of the album’s most notable entries in his view.
“‘Rock It Off’ may be my favorite track on 40, he said. “When the guitar riff comes in, I stand up a little straighter and imagine a peacock strutting. It’s got a shuffle groove that’s tailor-made for me to do the bop-bop-a-bop. The video captures the fun and good vibes we all shared while making the whole album.”
The debut of ‘Rock It Off’ and its video comes approximately a month after the band debuted the lyric video for 40‘s lead single ‘Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me).’ Both songs are available as instant grat tracks with pre-orders of 40.
Stray Cats will launch a tour in support of 40 this summer. The tour is scheduled to start June 21 and run through Sept. 1. It will feature performances in cities, such as Welch, MN; Cologne, Germany and Atlantic City, NJ. The tour’s full schedule is noted below.
