TBS’ Major League Baseball coverage will feature an inter-divisional American League matchup this weekend, starring two recent AL MVPs.

The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels will play live Sunday on TBS.  Coverage of the game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET.  Sunday’s game is the closer in a four-game series between the teams.

Andrew Cashner (10-7) is scheduled to get the start for Boston while Patrick Sandoval (0-0), who got the call up to the majors last week, is scheduled to take the mound for the Angels.  Sandoval was drafted in 2015 by Houston, but acquired by the Angels in 2018 in a deal involving Martin Maldonado.  Sandoval was called up last week against Cincinnati.

Sandoval had a strong outing in his Aug. 5 debut, pitching five innings.  He struck out 8, allowed only 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 earned runs in that span.

Cashner’s most recent stint on the mound was Tuesday against the Royals.  He took the loss in the game, pitching 5.1 innings in the match.  Cashner struck out 4 batters, but allowed 6 earned runs and 2 walks on 7 hits.

Sunday’s game could go to either team as the host Red Sox are 29-30 at home so far this season, but even worse on the road, at 32-36.  At the same time, Boston won the series’ opening game Thursday night, blanking Los Angeles 3-0.

The Angels’ loss Thursday was one in a now 7-game losing streak for the team, which sits 4th in the AL West, just ahead of Seattle.  The visiting Angels are 27-32 on the road, making the outlook even less positive for Los Angeles..  The team is 29-28 at home so far this season.

Ernie Johnson will anchor Sunday’s matchup between the Red Sox and Angels.  He will be joined in the booth by Ron Darling for additional commentary.
