Pharmacose debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the video for its new single ‘The Clearing‘ Tuesday.  The single is featured in the band’s recently released EP Prescription Fiction Pt. 1.  Directed by Kurt St. Thomas, the video features front man Wes Jones performing while his unseen band mates add their own touch to the composition.  The psychedelic imagery used in the video is meant to help translate the song’s lyrical theme, which according to Jones, focuses on a person experience that he had.

Jones discussed that topic in a recent interview.

“I wrote ‘The Clearing’ during a recovery phase of a manic episode I had a couple of years back,” he said.  “I was trying to get my life back in order and was trying to come to terms with my diagnosis. During the verses I am almost reliving what I felt like during the episode: ‘Raging and reckless, out of control.’ But the chorus is me, looking backward, making sense of what was going on during that time. There is a sort of internal dialogue that I am having, trying to convince myself that things are going to be okay. I think in the end I do manage to convince myself, but not before reliving the chaos.”

The musical arrangement that accompanies the song’s thought provoking lyrical content helps to illustrate the emotion that Jones felt as he dealt with the situation that he discussed.  It is very upbeat with a certain punk type of element to its overall sound.

The band’s debut of the video for ‘The Clearing’ comes almost four months after the band debut the video for the EP’s lead single, ‘Checked Out.’
