Prospect Hill is doing its part to help lighten the heaviness that is weighing down the world right now.
The band debuted the lyric video for its new single ‘Celebrate’ last month through v13.net. The video takes footage of all the bad things going on in the world — from riots to fires to police brutality — and juxtaposes that heavy imagery with a light, pop rock type arrangement that easily engages and entertains listeners.
That light, positive vibe of the song’s musical arrangement couples with the song’s optimistic lyrics — the verse states, “I just want to celebrate/Get f***** up and die” — to offset the negative energy in the imagery even more. Of course some of the imagery, people celebrating together at parties and concerts works with the song’s positive musical and lyrical vibes to help translate that positive message even more.
Prospect Hill drummer Mark Roberge talked about the single during the band’s interview with v13.net.
“When writing ‘Celebrate’ we had no idea that we would be releasing it during such a strange time,” he said. “We didn’t know just how relevant the song would be to the current state of the world. The lyric video, however, was created during this and allowed us to paint a narrative that tells a story of where we are, where we used to be, how we got here, and where we will be. This song is now an anthem for all of us that have felt caged and subdued to the pandemic and missing the good times. This song is a reminder of those times and also an assurance that they will be back.”
‘Celebrate’ is available to stream and download here.
