Independent rock band Satellite Citi is focusing on a familiar topic in its latest single.

The band recently premiered its new single ‘Black Magic‘ through all digital platforms.  It debuted the song’s companion video July 30.  The song’s musical arrangement is a simple, stoner rock style composition that will appeal to fans of bands within said genre.

The song’s lyrical theme, as noted, centers on the issue of a toxic relationship, as pointed out by vocalist/drummer Anna Gevorkian.

“’Black Magic’ is about overcoming the tight grip of an overbearing relationship,” said Gevorkian. “There can be toxic relationships in life, whether it’s romantic or a friendship, where you feel trapped under someone’s spell. The song is about breaking free from that spell. Musically, we wanted ‘Black Magic’ to have an anthemic feel, something everyone could sing along to.”

‘Black Magic’ is expected for inclusion in Satellite Citi’s forthcoming album Fear Tactics.  The album’s release date will be announced soon.  Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo) is producing the album.

Along with its inclusion in Satellite Citi’s new forthcomine album, ‘Black Magic’ is also included in the closing credits of the upcoming documentary Long Live Rock&Celebrate The Chaos.  The documentary, which premiered Oct. 31 through Crowd Surf Films, examines the draw of rock and metal through the eyes of fans.  The doc’s trailer is streaming here.
