Veteran alt-rock group Pixes will release a new limited edition vinyl single next month.
The new double A-side single is scheduled for release Oct. 16. The record’s primary song ‘Hear Me Out’ is the band’s fist new music since the release of its then latest album Beneath The Eyrie last year. According to information provided about the song, its musical arrangement will feature a stark stylistic departure from the band’s past brooding works.
The noted information states that the song was co-written by Pixies vocalist Black Francis and bassist Paz Lenchantin (A Perfect Circle) who also joins the band on this single. The song was composed during the Beneath The Eyrie sessions but never made the final cut for the album.
Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Ghost) produced the single.
Lenchantin discussed the song’s lyrical theme in a recent interview.
“‘Hear Me Out’ is about things not turning out the way we hoped, but knowing that it’s going to be ok regardless,” said Lenchantin. “Black started the melody phrases on an old organ. I loved it right away, so he asked me to take a pass at the lyrics. The song has an evocative melody that inspired the lyrics to come out straight away.”
The second song featured in Pixies’ forthcoming recording is a cover of the classic T.Rex song ‘Mambo Sun.’
Pre-sales are open for Pixes’ new single.
