The New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders will close out the second week of the 2020 NFL season live on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
The game is the Raiders’ first in its new home stadium, Allegiant Stadium, and ESPN will mark the occasion with an expanded simulcast of the game on ABC and ESPN Deportes.
Additionally, ESPN2 will feature free-flowing conversation with NFL stars, celebrity athletes and actors during the game. Coverage is scheduled to start at 8:15 p.m. ET.
As an added bonus, veteran rock band The Killers will perform live at halftime from the rooftop of Caesar’s Palace. The performance will also simulcast on all noted networks.
Monday night’s game is not only to mark the debut of the Raiders in their new home. It is also part of ESPN’s ongoing 50th “birthday” of Monday Night Football. The program first aired Sept. 21, 1970 with the ew York Jets and Cleveland Browns facing off on ABC.
Monday Night Football‘s 50th birthday is just one of the notable anniversaries that ESPN will mark Monday night. The game’s broadcast will come four days after the 100th birthday of the National Football League.
The Raiders opened the 2020 season with a win in Week One against the Carolina Panthers 34-30. The Saints also won their opening week game, claiming a 34-23 victory over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While both teams won in Week One, the Saints won by 11 while the Raiders’ victory was a four-point spread, placing the Raiders third in the AFC West and Saints atop the NFC South standings.
Monday Night Countdown will precede Monday night’s cross-conference matchup between the Saints and Raiders starting at 6 p.m. ET.
