Hannah Williams & The Affirmations debuted the video for the group’s latest single this week.

The group debuted the new single ‘The Only Way Out Is Through‘ and its companion video Monday. The song is the fourth single from the group’s latest album, 2019’s 50 Foot Woman. Its debut follows that of the album’s other singles, ‘Hourglass,’ ‘50 Foot Woman,’ and ‘I Feel It.’

The video features Williams taking a car ride through a city as she performs the group’s new single, which plays over the video. The musical arrangement that is featured in the song is a funky, horn-driven composition. Williams’ confident, gritty vocal delivery takes the fore while the drums keep solid time here. The subtle addition of the keyboards and guitar enriches the arrangement even more.

The song’s lyrical theme is centered on the all-too-familiar topic of a broken relationship, according to a statement from Victoria Klewin, who wrote the song’s lyrics.

“I was going through a really tough break up and struggling with the idea of being alone when Hannah said to me: ‘All you need now is you’,” said Klewin. “That stuck in my head and the rest of the lyrics followed. The pain of that situation was hugely transformative for me so I wanted to write a song about actively embracing emotional suffering in order to grow and also finding strength in your own autonomy”.
