Atreyu will perform two livestream performances this fall.
The band made the announcement Monday in a news release, dubbing the performances the “Carry The Fire” Livestreams. The document states the first performance is scheduled to take place Nov. 20 and that the concert’s set list will consist of some of the band’s most well-known singles and hits.
The second livestream concert is scheduled to take place Dec. 4. This concert will feature the band performing its classic album Lead Silas Paper Anchor in its entirety. Exclusive merchandise bundles, virtual meet-and-greets, and separate question and answer sessions will be available.
More information about the upcoming livestreams is available here.
The song is expected for inclusion in the band’s as-yet-untitled forthcoming eighth album. the band is working on that album.
With the recent departure of now former vocalist Alex Varkatzas from the band, drummer Brandon Saller (who also fronts Hell or Highwater) and guitarist Porter McKnight now share vocal duties for the band on the song (and the rest of the album’s coming works) while Kyle Rosa takes Saller’s place on the drums.
The video for ‘Save Us’ couples footage of Atreyu performing its new single with that of an unidentified woman standing before a fire, a roadside bomb going off in an undisclosed city, and at one point, even a bloody knife.
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new song is a heavy, plodding, guitar-driven work. There are distinct melodic metal elements within the arrangement, along with some metalcore influence alongside one another for an interesting song from the band.
The clear social commentary featured in the band’s new single couples well with the work’s musical arrangement. It addresses the current state of the world.
The band addressed the song’s musical and lyrical content in a prepared statement.
“‘Save Us’ is not only a reflection of where we are musically, but also a mirror to the world in this ominous moment in time,” the statement reads. “We chose to pair the powerful message with one of the heavier songs we’ve ever written. This song feels like the anthem that we all need right now. To us, it’s a call to action to light the fire in ourselves. We can begin to make great change — but only if we look inside first.”
