Journey front man Arnel Pineda released a new, original holiday song over the weekend.

Pineda debuted his new song ‘This Christmas – A Beacon of Hope’ Friday through Imagen Records. The song, available to stream and download here, is a power ballad very much in the vein of so many Journey hits. Its strings, vocals, steady time keeping and piano line provide a true depth to the song that will resonate with any Journey fan.

The lyrical content that accompanies the song’s musical arrangement is meant as a tribute to everyone who has done their part to help others over the course of 2020, according to a statement from Pineda; Not just in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but to other things that have happened around the world.

“The Year 2020 has brought many challenges for all of us: Taal Volcano eruption in January, Typhoon Vamco/Ulysses in November and the ongoing COVID crisis,” he said. “Every single one of you has played the hero one way or another. Thank you for your commitment and dedication. Thank you for your collaboration, compassion and courage. Thank you for providing exceptional care and – most importantly – thank you for giving us hope during these uncertain times. APFI volunteers and donors have been – and are still – doing what we can with all that we have.”
