Independent singer-songwriter Massie debuted the video for her latest single last week.

Massie premiered the video for her single ‘Monsters Under My Bed‘ March 26. The video features Massie and her band mates performing the single in a dimly lit living room setting. Additional visuals, such as Massie laying on a bed while hands reach up around her, the full moon passing behind a tree, and a shadow person type figure on a small television monitor also appear in the video. The collective visuals are meant to help translate the message in the song’s lyrical theme.

Massie talked about that theme during a recent interview.

“I think we have all been in a place where we don’t want to face reality,” she said. “We don’t want to make a decision because we are afraid of what the consequences might be. I wanted to capture that anxiety in a simple and raw way anyone could relate to. How I pictured that anxiety was being a little kid, scared of monsters under my bed because who hasn’t had that overwhelming fear? Unless you’re a f****** psychopath.”

The catchy, but still contemplative musical arrangement featured in this song makes for an interesting counter to the song’s deeper, philosophical lyrical theme.
