Independent metal band Neonfly announced the release date and title for its new album this week.

The band is scheduled to release its new album, The Future, Tonight June 18 through Noble Demon. According to information provided about the album, it will feature 10 songs, one of which — the album’s title track — the band premiered March 26. the song features a guest appearance by Soilwork front man Bjord Strid.

Front man Frederick Thunder spoke warmly of Strid as he talked about the band’s new single.

“‘The Future, Tonight’ is one of my favourite tracks on the album,” he said. “I think it really showcases where we are at today. The song is a perfect example of that, and we are truly honoured to have Björn “Speed” Strid -an artist that I deeply respect and admire- as a guest singer on the track. It’s also a testament to our commitment to keep moving forward and finding new and exciting forms of artistic expression.”

The video for ‘The Future Tonight’, features the band members being held, blindfolded, by an armed gunman for an unknown reason. It concludes with a surprise finale involving the band performing its single, blindfolded. The visuals are meant to help illustrate the song’s lyrical theme, which according to information about the song, focuses on topics, such as mental health, addiction, and depression.

The band addressed the video’s visualization in a prepared statement.

“In the video we wanted to show this metaphorically by having the 4 band members blindfolded and tied to chairs in front of an interrogator who is abusing them psychologically and threatening them with physical violence,” the statement reads.  “The interrogator represents mental health and depression issues, while the band members struggling and trying to stand up to him, represent the inner struggle that people have against those demons. In the video, we wanted to include this as part of a wider narrative, shot cinematically like a short movie. Towards the end of the video, there is a plot twist, as we see the interrogator blindfolded sitting on a chair on his own, and replaying the previous sequence entirely on his own, implying that he’d been the one sitting alone all this time struggling with his inner demons.”

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single presents a distinct Euro-metal sound, complete with keyboards, rich drums, and certain vocal elements.

‘The Future, Tonight’ is just the recent song that Neonfly has presented. The band most recently premiered its cover of Shocking Blue’s classic 1969 song ‘Venus.’ The band’s cover of ‘Venus’ is not featured in The Future, Tonight. The album’s track listing is noted below.
