Guitarist Paolo Ballardini (a.k.a. Ballard) debuted his latest single this week.
Ballardini debuted his new single ‘Too Soon‘ Friday. The full-on instrumental track features a guest appearance by keyboard wizard Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo, Platypus, ex-Dream Theater). The song’s energetic arrangement puts Ballardini’s talents on display, and at the same time is comparable to works from Joe Satriani.
The premiere of ‘Too Soon’ comes more than three months after Ballardini premiered his then latest single, ‘Changes’ and its video. That song also displays some Satriani influence. At the same time, it also features some notable influence from Satriani’s fellow famed guitarist, Marty Friedman.
Sherinian’s participation in Ballardini’s new single comes as he continues work on his next album, which will follow up his latest album, The Phoenix.
The Phoenix produced the singles, ‘Empyrean Sky,’ ‘Dragonfly,’ and ‘Them Changes‘ (a cover of the Buddy Miles classic).
Sherinian followed up the release of The Phoenix with a guest appearance on Michael Schenker Group’s latest album, Immortal, which was released early this year. Now the band’s namesake, Michael Schenker will make his own appearance on Sherinian’s as-yet-untitled new album.
