Ice Nine Kills is giving audiences another preview of its new album.
The preview comes in the form of its new single, ‘Assault and Batteries‘ and its companion video. The band premiered the pair Monday, approximately one month after the band premiered the album’s lead single, ‘Hip To Be Scared‘ and its video.
Both songs are featured in INK’s forthcoming album, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, which is scheduled for release Oct. 15 through Fearless Records.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Assault and Batteries’ is everything that audiences have come to expect from the band. It is a heavy, intense metalcore style work that combines the band’s familiar, creepy singing in the choruses with front man Spencer Charnas’ screaming vocals in the song’s verses. Audiences who grew up in the 1980s will catch the tribute to the original Toys ‘R Us jingle incorporated into the song, too.
The video for ‘Assault and Batteries’ is, as noted, an NSFW presentation. That is because it is very unsettling throughout. Not to mention it involves a woman being beheaded. The video concludes with a police investigation into the latest crime. That and the news report that opens the video collectively throw back to the video style that the band used in the videos for The Silver Scream, the band’s breakthrough 2018 album.
Speaking of The Silver Scream, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood is technically the second sequel to that album. It was followed up in 2019 with The Silver Scream: The Final Cut.
The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream: The Final Cut produced the singles, ‘Thank God It’s Friday,’ ‘Stabbing in the Dark,’ ‘A Grave Mistake,‘ ‘The American Nightmare,’ ‘Savages,’ ‘Enjoy Your Slay‘ ‘A Grave Mistake,’ ‘Thank God It’s Friday,’ ‘Stabbing in the Dark‘ and a cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller.’
The band followed up The Silver Scream: The Final Cut with the release of its live recording, I Heard They Kill Live last year. The recording produced live performances of The Silver Scream‘s songs, ‘Rocking The Boat,’ and ‘Stabbing in the Dark.’
In other news, INK has launched it latest “Nightmare on the Ninth” merchandise line in conjunction with the premiere of its new single and video. All of the band’s latest merchandise is available for a limited time here.
