Independent punk rock band Fore is taking on a grunge classic for its latest single.

The band premiered its take on Alice in Chains’ ‘Man in the Box’ Tuesday through Metal Injection. The amped up take on the song was accompanied by a music video that takes the band’s satirical take on the song another step up from the original and gives it a whole new identity.

The song’s arrangement is a full-on, three-minute punk take on the grunge classic. The original song’s sound is there, but the stylistic take is completely different. The video features a man who is literally in a bunch of boxes. It also features a nonstop series of images, such as various bodies of water, a woman laying on a floor, looking upset over something, and one of the band members grilling out.

The video and cover is clearly meant to be taken with tongue planted firmly in cheek. It is not meant to be taken seriously, unlike the far moodier original song.

Fore’s premiere of its cover of ‘Man in the Box’ comes approximately two months after the band premiered its then latest single, ‘Repeated Subtraction’ and its companion video. The song was the band’s first new music since the release of its single, ‘Today We Rise (No Tomorrow)’ in 2020. That song was featured in the band’s debut 2020 album, Hombres.
