Sabaton Partners With Gaming Company To Debut New Single, Video

Sabaton has officially entered the world of e-gaming.

The band has partnered with video game developer Wargaming Group Ltd. to debut the video for its new single, ‘Steel Commanders.’ The video, which features the band alongside famed cellist Tina Guo, performing the new single, is part of a marketing push for Wargaming Group Ltd.’s famous online game, “World of Tanks.” The video additionally features the band in a tank, controlling in what is supposed to be the game as the song plays over the visualization.

Front man Joakim Broden spoke positively of the new partnership as he talked about the new song and video.

“It’s been a great experience working with the World of Tanks and Wargaming guys on this huge project,” he said. “Together, we made epic music for ‘Steel Commanders,’ and it’s the perfect way to kick off our massive collaboration.  We’re proud to be part of this brand new, in-game event that features the first-ever Tier IX Premium tank as the ultimate prize, as well as us as crew members.”

The tank of which Broden spoke is the big prize in a new in-game event in which the band will take part. While the song’s video premiered Wednesday, the single will release by itself Sept. 17. Pre-saves are open.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Steel Commanders’ is everything that audiences have come to expect from Sabaton. Broden’s powerful, operatic vocals are just as present and full as ever. The semi-orchestral instrumentation is just as present, too. Audiences will be pleased to know that even with that in mind, the song still boasts its own unique identity separate from anything else that the band has crafted even with that familiar stylistic approach.

The lyrical them of this song is a perfect fit for the song, as it deals directly with tank combat. Considering that Sabaton has spent so much of its life crafting songs centered on combat and military history, this is right up the band’s proverbial alley.

In other news, Sabaton premiered the trailer for its next album Aug. 15. The announcement was made through the band’s official Instagram page. The album will be a sequel of sorts to the band’s latest album, The Great War (2019). The record was released through Nuclear Blast Records.

In other news, Sabaton is scheduled to join Judas Priest next month for its 50th anniversary tour. The tour is scheduled to launch Sept. 8 in Reading, PA.
