Memphis May Fire opened the weekend with another new single and video.

The band premiered the video for its new single, ‘Somebody’ Friday. The premiere comes more than a month after the band premiered its then latest single, ‘Bleed Me Dry‘ and its companion video.

The band roared back in June with the video for its single, ‘Blood & Water.’ The song was the band’s first new music since the release of its 2019 album, Broken. That album produced the singles ‘The Old Me,’ ‘Heavy is the Weight (ft. Andy Mineo)‘ and ‘You and Me.’

Memphis May Fire followed up the debut of the video for ‘Blood & Water’ with the premiere of  its new single, ‘Death Inside‘ and its video in July.

The video for ‘Somebody’ is simple. Like so many of the band’s recent video presentations, it features the band performing its new single in front of a wall of monitors.

The musical arrangement featured in the new single is the most radio friendly song released so far this year. Instead of presenting more of the intensity exhibited in the instrumentation and vocals in the band’s recently released singles, the band opted this time for a more melodic emocore type sound and stylistic approach.

Front man Matty Mullins discussed the arrangement in a prepared statement.

“We’re always wanting to push the boundaries of what people think MMF is and ‘Somebody’ is no exception to that,” saidMullins. “From the second we finished the song, it became an all-time favorite for everyone in our camp. So it’s been REALLY hard to keep it a secret until now.”

Additionally, Mullins addressed the song’s lyrical theme in that statement.

“The lyrical content is blatantly about substance abuse and addiction so we wanted to use this release to put a spotlight on a non-profit that does incredible addiction recovery work here in Nashville. We will be donating 100% of the proceeds of the ‘Hands’ tee in our online merch store to The Nashville Rescue Mission.” The NRM gives hope for today, hope for tomorrow, and hope for eternity to the hungry, homeless, and hurting by providing meals, safe shelter, and clothing, as well as support and long-term assistance for those struggling with homelessness, drug or alcohol addiction, or any number of other life-altering challenges.
