The Flower Kings premiered the first single from its new album this week.
The band premiered its new single, ‘The Great Pretender‘ Thursday. the song is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album, By Royal Decree, which is scheduled for release March 4 through InsideOut Music. The pending date will mark the band’s second record in less than a year, following the release of Islands, which was released Oct. 30 through InsideOut Music.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘The Great Pretender’ gives audiences hints of The Flower Kings’ existing catalogs while also presenting some stylistic similarities to works from the band’s fellow pro-rockers, Spock’s Beard. The balance of the softer, flowing approach and more edgy approaches throughout the song make for a unique sound that will appeal to a wide range of audiences.
