Independent punk band Reminders is scheduled to release its debut album this spring.
The band is scheduled to release its album, Best of Beach Punk April 1 through Wiretap Records (U.S.) and Venn Records (U.K.). In anticipation of the album’s release, the band premiered the album’s lead single, ‘Carousel‘ and its companion video Wednesday.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Carousel’ is a work that will appeal easily to fans of the pop punk from the mid to late 1990s. The song’s lyrical theme is a contemplative commentary about life in general according to front man Leo Dyke.
“I would literally sit and watch the wheels go round, having mundane, dull thoughts while getting sunburnt and watching other people enjoy their summer,” said Dyke. “Everyone’s on a different carousel—it’s a metaphor asking if the routine you’re stuck in that’s going round and round will ever break, or if you just sit there and let it continue to happen.”
The video for ‘Carousel’ features the band in a basement setting as it performs its new single. The presentation seems to help illustrate the DIY approach taken to the song’s musical arrangement and that is so familiar with so much punk rock.
