Independent hard rock band Lockjaw debuted the video for its latest single this month.
The band premiered the video for its new single, ‘Breaking Point‘ June 3. The song’s premiere follows that of the band’s then latest single, ‘Living In My Head‘ and is distinct in its sound and style from that song.
Where ‘Living In My Head’ presents a clear metalcore sound and style in the vein of Killswitch Engage, ‘Breaking Point’ is more of a melodic hard rock style song a la Stone Sour. Interestingly enough, front man Joe Ortiz’ vocals are close in sound and style to those of Stone Sour/Slipknot front man Corey Taylor at some points in the song. At others still, one cannot ignore just as much of a similarity to the vocal sound and style of Chad Gray (Hellyeah, Mudvayne). That is just this critic’s interpretation.
The video for ‘Breaking Point’ features the band in what is meant to reflect a live setting, complete with fans surrounding the band as it performs its new single.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the video’s premiere. The lyrics provided with the video make for an inference about someone who simply has had enough of someone else’s verbal, emotional and psychological abuse. Again, this is just this critic’s interpretation.

Hard rock band Adema debuted its latest single and video over the weekend.
The band premiered its new single, ‘Violent Principles‘ and its companion video Friday. The single is the second from the band featuring current front man Ryan Shuck (ex-Orgy, Julien-K) and is featured in the band’s new forthcoming album, 360 Degrees of Separation, whose release date is under consideration. The song was produced by Shuck’s fellow former Orgy and Julien-K member Amir Derakh.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Violent Principles’ is a melodic hard rock composition that is an easy fit for any modern and active rock radio programmer’s play list. No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing its debut. Lyrics provided by one fan with the song’s video infer on one hand that the song centers on the familiar topic of breaking away from a negative relationship. The mention of how we as a society need pills to sedate and how we isolate adds its own inference. All things considered, the content is sure to engage audiences in its own right.
The video for Adema’s new single is a familiar style presentation. It features the band performing its new single on a sound stage as the song plays over. A white backdrop stands behind the band as it plays against the song.
In other news, Adema has announced it is scheduled to join (hed) p.e., Crazytown, and Flaw on the road this summer for the “Nu Metal Revival Tour.” The tour is scheduled to launch July 6 in Denver, CO and to run through July 30 in Reedley, CA. It features performances in cities, such as Lombard, IL; Mechanicsburg, PA and Arnold, MO.
More information on Adema’s upcoming tour, its new single, video, and forthcoming album is available along with all of the band’s latest news at:
Ozzy Osbourne will release his latest album this fall, and in anticipation has debuted the album’s lead single and its companion video.
Osbourne is scheduled to release his new album, Patient Number 9 Sept. 9 through Epic Records. In anticipation of the record’s release, he debuted the album’s lead single/title track and its companion video Friday.
The album’s track listing is noted below.
PATIENT NUMBER 9 track listing:
1. Patient Number 9 (feat. Jeff Beck)
2. Immortal (feat. Mike McCready)
3. Parasite (feat. Zakk Wylde)
4. Mr. Darkness (feat. Zakk Wylde)
5. One of Those Days (feat. Eric Clapton)
6. A Thousand Shades (feat. Jeff Beck)
7. No Escape From Now (feat. Tony Iommi)
8. Nothing Feels Right (feat. Zakk Wylde)
9. Evil Shuffle (feat. Zakk Wylde)
10. Degradation Rules (feat. Tony Iommi)
11. Dead and Gone
12. God Only Knows
13. Darkside Blues
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Patient Number 9’ is an interesting composition. The majority of its body is a melodic, radio ready rock song. However, the song’s bridge presents a distinct blues-infused sound and style, which makes for an interesting contrast to that main body. The whole is an engaging and entertaining composition.
When asked recently about the song’s lyrical theme during an interview, Ozzy simply said the song is about a mental institution.
The video for Osbourne’s new single was directed by famed animator Todd McFarlane, who has drawn for the likes of Marvel and Image Comics. The animated portions of the song feature decidedly psychedelic elements, which clearly play into the overall theme of a mental institution. The live segments at times feature Ozzy singing his new single in what is meant to look like an institution.

The Nervous Eaters premiered its latest single and video over the weekend.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Wild Eyes‘ and its companion video Friday. The song is featured in the band’s forthcoming album, Monsters & Angels, whose release date is under consideration. The record is expected for release through Wicked Cool Records.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Wild Eyes’ is a light rock style composition. It is easily comparable to works from the likes of Bruce Springsteen and to a lesser extent, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
The song’s lyrical theme centers on a woman of high breeding, according to front man Steve Cataldo.
“Stevie Van Zandt chose ‘Wild Eyes’ as the first single from our new album Monsters & Angels,” he said. “A textured, melodic rocker that paints a portrait of a beautiful, complex woman who views life through the lens of her sophisticated imagination.”
The song’s video features that woman going about her life as the band performs its new single on a stage setting. Cataldo had the following to say of the video.
“Filmmaker Vincent Straggas created a compelling video for ‘Wild Eyes,’ he said. “His idea to give the actress a camera through which she can capture passing moments conveys the intent of the song extremely well. She has a distinct, idiosyncratic point of view and experiences the world through inquisitive, open, wild eyes.”
In other news, the band has a series of live dates scheduled for this summer and fall. The dates are all noted below.

Ovtlier debuted its latest single over the weekend.
The band premiered its new single, ‘Nemesis‘ Friday. The song’s premiere came a month after the premiere of the band’s then latest single, ‘Blame The Dead.’
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a heavy, intense composition. There are groove metal leanings throughout the song, and some more pure metal elements throughout the work. That combination of elements makes the song comparable, stylistically, to works from the likes of Lamb of God, Unearth, and Slipknot.
The song’s lyrical theme takes on the issue of facing narcissists, said front man Joey Arena.
“We’ve all encountered narcissistic individuals who hide behind a mask,” he said. “There are many snakes out there, ones who try to get close, only to gather intel and use it against you. I pride myself on keeping it truthful and transparent with everyone I meet and that will get you both loved and hated. The best part is I believe in healthy boundaries and it usually weeds out those who are not good company. I live my life by ‘do no harm, take no shit’; If I don’t like you, you’ll know it. ‘Nemesis’, it’s in the name”.

Rock band Woyote debuted its new single and video over the weekend.
The band — Mikey Doling (Snot, Soulfly, Channel Zero), Aaron Nordstrom (Gemini Syndrome), Jari De Roover, Quentin Cornet, and Sebastiaan Verhoeven — debuted its new single, ‘Atlas Shrugged‘ Friday along with the song’s companion lyric video. The band premiered the video through Metal Injection.
The song’s musical arrangement is a stark contrast from the music that Doling and Nordstrom have crafted with their respective bands. Rather the arrangement here is more of a mainstream style pure rock composition.
According to information provided about the song in a press release, the song’s lyrical theme is a social commentary about the state of the world.
In other news, Woyote has a trio of live dates planned for this year and early next year. The dates are noted below.
Half a century after its original release, Tangerine Records has re-issued Ray Charles’ landmark album, A Message From The People.
The label released the record this month. It marks the first time in a decade that the record, originally released April 4, 1972, that the record has been re-issued. The album, which features hits such as ‘Heaven Help Us All,’ ‘They’ll Be No Peace On Earth Without All Men As One’ and his timeless performance of ‘America The Beautiful.’ Audiences can hear that song here.

Also released by Ray Charles in 1972 was his live recording, Ray Charles Live in Stockholm 1972. The recording was captured during a performance by Charles in Stockholm, Sweden that year. Its set list includes and is not limited to performances of songs, such as ‘Alexander’s Ragtime Band,’ ‘Don’t Change On Me,’ and ‘I Can’t Stop Loving You.’
More information on these and other titles from Tangerine Records is available along with all of the label’s latest news at https://tangerinerecords.com.
Nothing More premiered the video for its latest single over the weekend.
The band debuted the lyric video for its new single, ‘Spirits‘ Friday. The song is the title track from its forthcoming eponymous album and the record’s third single behind ‘Tired Of Winning‘ and ‘Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire)‘. The album is now scheduled for release Oct. 14 through Better Noise Music.
The musical arrangement featured in the new single is a heavy, aggro-rock style composition. The heaviness of the instrumentation pairs with the almost Maynard James Kennan-esque vocals to make the whole engaging and entertaining.
The song’s lyrical theme, which front man Johnny Hawkins addressed, is engaging in its own right.
“Isn’t it interesting that we give the same name to something holy and something wholly intoxicating?,” he said. “The song ‘SPIRITS’ describes that very conundrum. When you drink liquor, it has been said that you are welcoming that pneuma (spirit) into your body. Most of us have seen and experienced how alcohol (or rather ‘al-ghawl,’ which means demon/spirit) can make us feel. It’s almost as if we turn into someone else when too much of the spirit has been consumed. Sometimes it’s eye opening and can lead to wondrous life-changing conversations or bonds that would never normally happen…and sometimes it can lead to the exact opposite. It may turn us into Dr. Hyde’s Jekyll and cause us to do or say horrific things we would never normally do sober. Spirits are both a little bit heavenly and a little bit sick.”
In other news, Nothing More also announced this week, a pending tour with In This Moment. The tour is scheduled to launch Aug. 26 and to run through Oct. 22. The tour includes a performance at the annual Blue Ridge Rock Festival, Louder Than Life festival, and Rocklahoma festival. The band recently wrapped another tour with Asking Alexandria June 19.

The Soviet Machines debuted the video for its take of David Bowie’s modern classic song, ‘I’m Afraid Of Americans‘ this month.
The band premiered the video June 3. The video features the band taking on the song, which Bowie originally composed alongside Brian Eno in 1995 for Bowie’s album, Outside and then re-worked and featured as part of his 1997 album, Earthling.
The Soviet Machines’ rendition of the song stays largely true to its source material. However, in place of the industrial leaning of the original song, the band gives the song more of a grunge leaning while still trying to recreate the ambiance of the original in its stylistic approach and sound.
The debut of the band’s new video and cover came more than two years after the band released its debut self-titled album through DC-Jam Records.
