Orgy is starting 2023 on a high note.
The veteran rock band debuted the lyric video for its latest single, ‘Empty’ Friday. The single will be featured in the band’s forthcoming EP, NEWMUSIC, which is expected for release in September. The EP’s exact release date is under consideration.
The musical arrangement featured in Orgy’s new single takes listeners back to the band’s early days. That is evidenced through its electro/techno sound and style and the vocal harmonies that front man Jay Gordon pairs with the instrumentation.
Gordon said taking listeners back in time through this song was intentional in the bigger picture of the band’s new record.
“I’m excited to finally start getting these tracks out for Orgy again,” Gordon said. “As we move toward a new direction, musically speaking, I wanted to put a track out that has a bit of that signature Orgy sound and hint at what’s coming next.”
According to Gordon, the lyrical theme that accompanies the song’s musical arrangement is “about being drained from always trying to make everyone happy.” He added, “I’m really stoked to deliver this track, which sums up the rigors of both intimate and platonic friendships alike and how draining they can be to maintain.”
In other news, Gordon said the band has a handful of live dates set for this spring, including a performance planned for March 24 at the Whiskey A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA. The band also has among those dates, a performance May 13 at the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas, NV. Orgy will join the likes of System of A Down, Incubus, Korn, Deftones, Soulfly, P.O.D., Sevendust, Coal Chamber, and Filter for the festival. Also planned to perform at the festival are bands, such as Ministry, Kittie, Chevelle, and Papa Roach.
