Family music entertainment act Rabbi! is giving audiences their first preview of its new record.

The band debuted its new single ‘Happiness is Simple‘ Friday, along with the song’s companion lyric video. The duo — Ashton Allen and Devin Moore — premiered the video Friday through The Saturday Morning Cereal Bowl. ‘Happiness is Simple’ is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming EP, which is scheduled for release April 2 through the independent record label 8 Pound Gorilla.

Happiness is Simple is Rabbit!’s sixth studio recording. The band released its debut album Connect The Dots in 2010. It was followed by the act’s sophomore record Go For It! a year later in 2011. The duo has also released three other EPs.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Happiness is Simple’ is a presentation that will appeal to listeners of any age. That is thanks to its distinct indie-pop sound. The juxtaposition of the light verses and the much bigger choral presentation of the choruses makes for an overall catchy musical presentation.

The lyrical theme featured along with the song’s musical arrangement is just as widely appealing as that musical content. It is straight forward, reminding all listeners that “it’s not about how much money you have/It’s not about winning.” It reminds listeners that real happiness comes from the simpler things in life.

The track listing for Happiness is Simple is noted below.

Family music entertainer Mike Phirman debuted his latest single and its companion video.

Phirman debuted his new single ‘Connect The Dots/Luggage Dog’ Friday along with its video. The song and its video are the first from Phirman’s forthcoming EP Activity Books, which is scheduled for release March 12 through 8 Pound Gorilla Records.

As the title infers, the album uses pages from children’s activity books as the inspiration for its songs. Famed satirist/actor/comedian “Weird” Al Yankovic makes a guest appearance on one of the EP’s songs, ‘Word Search/Vacuum.’

The EP’s track listing is noted below.

1. Connect the Dots / Luggage Dog  1:36
2. Color by Number / Bobbing and Weaving  2:43
3. Word Search / Vacuum (feat. “Weird Al” Yankovic)  4:14
4. What’s Wrong With This Picture?  4:07
5. Maze / Petting Zoo Bounce House  4:24

The first half of the new single features an arrangement that lends itself to comparison to that of Sesame Street‘s famed pinball skit while the second half, ‘Luggage Dog’ presents its own unique sound and style. The whole thing clocks in at less than two minutes in length.

The video for the new dual single opens with a video of a series of dots being connected. The reveal is that the dots make up a picture of a dog in a luggage bag, leading to the second half of the video. That dog goes on all kinds of adventures.
