18th & Addison Member Tom Kunzman Partners With Producer/Musician Steff Reed To Cover Bob Marley’s ‘Redemption Song’

Courtesy: Earshot Media

18th & Addison member Tom Kunzman has partnered with producer and musician Steff Reed to cover Bob Marley’s timeless song ‘Redemption Song.’

The song is streaming now through Spotify and Apple Music. The pair’s take on the song was mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Bob Brockman (Fugees, D’Angelo, Dixie Chicks).  The arrangement crafted by the dup takes the reggae classic and gives it a distinct new identity with a decidedly pop vibe that is just as catchy as its source material.

Kunzman talked about his friendship with Reed and the motivation for the song in a recent interview.

“I’m a genuine fan of Steff, and I always felt that his live show is very similar to 18th & Addisons,” he said.  “We’re both doing our best to bring people together to sing and forget all the division, confusion and frustration outside those four walls for a bit.  I love the feeling of unity and togetherness ‘Redemption Song’ offers so naturally. I felt that collaborating with him on this just had to happen.”

Reed expanded on Kunzman’s comments, offering an explanation of how the duo’s take on ‘Redemption Song’ came to be.

“Tom and I met a few years back while we were both on tour,” he said.  “We stayed in touch, and organically, a friendship grew.  One day Tom sent me a DM on Instagram with an idea to do a cover of Bob Marley’s iconic protest song ‘Redemption Song’ together.  I have such admiration for Tom as an artist and musician, and I was excited to collaborate.”

18th & Addison is touring in support of its most recent release, Old Blues Modern Love on The Reckless Love Tour.  The duo, which also features Kait DiBenedetto, will perform Jan. 15 in Los Angeles, CA as part of the tour.  The tour’s remaining dates are noted below.

Psychostick Debuts ‘Zombie Claus’ Video

Courtesy: TAG Publicity

Independent hard rock band Psychostick has a new holiday tune for the metalhead masses to enjoy, and a video to boot.

The band debuted the video for its single ‘Zombie Claus‘ Dec. 3.  The song and its video are a spoof of Rob Zombie’s 1998 hit song ‘Dragula’ that replaces Zombie in his hard rock hot rod with a Santa Claus figure who is just as metal as Zombie in his own right.

Santa’s elves join him at points for the video.  There are also some adult themes at points in the video, so this one is not for children.  Audiences will also find funny the band’s joke about Santa using the elves as slave labor in the song.

‘Zombie Claus’ is available to stream and download now through Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Google Play.

Dry Kill Logic Debuts New Single

Courtesy: Adrenaline PR

Eat your hearts out, Tool.

You aren’t the only band to go 13 years without releasing new music.  Dry Kill Logic returned this week with its first new music in as many years.  The New York-based metal outfit debuted its new single ‘Vices’ on iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play and Spotify.

‘Vices’ is the title track from the band’s forthcoming fourth full-length studio recording.  The album’s official release date has not been announced.

While Vices will be the band’s fourth album under the DKL moniker, it is not the band’s first recording.  It released two EPs — ‘Cause Moshing Is Good Fun and Elemental Evil in 1997 and 1999 respectively — under the moniker of Hinge. Copyright issues with the name eventually led the band to change its name to Dry Kill Logic.

The band’s debut album under the DKL name, The Darker Side of Nonsense was released in 2001 through Roadrunner Records.  It was followed up with the release of The Dead and Dreaming in 2004 through its own label, Psychodrama Records and with Of Vengeance in Violence in 2006.  That record was also released through Psychodrama Records.

The EPs Rot and The Megellan Complex were released in 2002 and 2006 respectively under the DKL name.

DKL front man Cliff Rigano said in a recent interview that he was excited about the release of the band’s new single.

“After 13 years, we couldn’t be more excited to be releasing music again and ‘Vices’ is the perfect reintroduction,” he said.

Vyces Premieres New Single, ‘Paralyzed’

Courtesy: Imagen/Warner ADA

Vyces debuted its new single this week.

The band debuted its new single ‘Paralyzed’ Tuesday.  The song was released through Imagen Records/Warner ADA.  The song comes more than a year after the band debuted the video for its last single ‘Thin Luck,’ which was released May 9, 2018.

‘Paralyzed’ is streaming online now via Apple Music and Spotify.  Musically, the song’s choruses boast a very aggro-rock vibe while the choruses are the exact opposite, tense, but still lighter than the feel of the song’s choruses.

Vyces front man Dave Naruszewicz talked about the song in a recent interview.

“I’m extremely excited to share ‘Paralyzed’ with everyone,” he said.  “It’s a song we’ve been playing live over the past two years and has definitely made its mark as a core song in our set. Producer Augustus Cryn’s vision for the song caught my attention the first time I heard the riffs.  Infectious and undeniable, this one is a head banger from start to finish.”

Reign Of Z Debuts ‘Reflections’ Video

Courtesy: O’Donnell Media Group

Alt-rock metal band Reign of Z debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the video for its single ‘Reflections’ on Tuesday via PureGrainAudio.com and YouTube.  The single is taken from the band’s debut EP Mirrors and Memoirs.  The record, produced by Steve Sopchak (Ice Nine Kills), is scheduled for April 19.

Vocalist Zosia West talked about the EP in a recent interview.

“This is the most exposed songwriting I’ve written up to this point,” West said.  “Each song was written at different ages in my life and reformatted for listeners.  Experiences from 8, 16, 24 and present.”

West added, “Our experiences have allowed us to create a world where we find solace and comfort, and allows us to be who we are and whoever listens and follows.”

The video for the new song presents vocalist Zosia West being restrained on a table by her band mates — Steven Lords (guitar), Zach Cunningham (guitar) and Stephen Berg (bass) — as she struggles to be released.  Meanwhile, her band mates work to hold her back so that an unidentified fluid can be pumped into her.  That footage is crossed with footage of the band performing its new single against a darkly lit backdrop.

Musically, the song’s arrangement lends itself to thoughts of Halestorm, Amy Lee and even Otep to a slightly lesser degree.  Lyrically, the song comes across as a commentary about an emotional battle that West at one time fought with herself.

‘Reflections’ can be purchased now via Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.

Reign of Z is scheduled to perform live Apr. 27 in Millvale, PA in support of Mirrors and Memoirs.  More information on the show is available along with information on the band’s new video, EP and more at:

Authority Zero Debuts ‘Ah Hell’ Video; Announces New Live Dates

Courtesy: Concrete Jungle

Punk rock band Authority Zero debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The veteran Mesa, AZ-based band debuted the video for its new single ‘Ah Hell‘ on Wednesday. The video combines footage of the band performing its new single in a sound stage setting with shots of a female lead dealing with what appears to be some emotional stress, working her way through her situation through the use of art.

Front man Jason Devore explained the song’s concept in a recent interview, saying it is meant to encourage people to stand up for themselves.

“‘Ah Hell’ is a ‘well, why the f*** not’ in life scenario,” Devore said.  “Idealistically, it stems from when I was a kid.  A lot of the older teenagers and younger kids that looked up to them would all go and ride BMX in a small town I lived in.  The area we went to had a giant dirt bowl, killer terrain and one big wicked kicker (jump) at the bottom.  One day, the teens pressured this little kid by bullying him into flying down the hill to make the jump and fit in.  End result, the kid did a double back flip unintentionally and ended up landing on his face, shattering all his teeth and bone structure.  All that said, the idea the final result is to stand up for yourself, don’t give in to pressure or bullies, take chances, but also take things at your own pace and do what you feel is right for you.”

‘Ah Hell’ is taken from Authority  Zero’s latest full-length studio recording persona non grata, which was released Nov. 22 via Concrete Jungle.  the album is streaming now via Spotify and Apple Music.

It can be purchased on vinyl now here.

Authority Zero is currently scheduled to perform live this spring in Europe, with two confirmed dates in the UK and one in France.  The band’s schedule is noted below.

Upcoming shows:

APR 14 New Cross Inn- London, England, United Kingdom

APR 16 The Salty Dog- Northwich, England, United Kingdom

APR 24 Gibus Live- Paris, Ile-de-France, France (w/ Good Riddance x A Vulture Wake)

Yo-Yo Ma Debuts New Video

Courtesy: Sony Classical

Famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma premiered a new video this week.

Ma debuted the video for his performance of Bach’s ‘Cello Suite No.1 in G Major‘ this week via Apple Music.  The performance is taken from Ma’s latest album, 2018’s Six Evolutions — BachCello Suites, which was released Sept. 14 via Sony Classical.

Ma’s new video combines footage from audiences responding to the prompt: “Show the world how you express yourself and what brings your community together.”  The prompt is another forward step in answering the questions posted by the Bach Project, “How does culture connect us, and help us to imagine a better future?”

In accompaniment with the video’s premiere, Ma has also curated a playlist of Bach recordings that shows how Bach’s music transcends generations and cultures. Additionally, a video featuring Ma discussing “Why Bach Matters” is streaming now.

Anti-Flag Unveils New Single; Announces More Live Dates

Courtesy: Spinefarm Records

Anti-Flag has released yet another single from its latest album, American Fall.

The band released the explicitly-titled song ‘Mr. Mother******.’  The song is streaming online now via Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and all digital platforms.  It is available for purchase online via iTunes and Amazon.

Guitarist Chris #2 said of the song, which was originally a b-side for the band’s American Attraction picture disc, that it is meant to pay homage to certain social activist organizations.

“Honestly, we just wanted to throw our hat into the ring in the storied history of Stagger Lee,” Chris #2 said.  “Our version has nods to those in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement of today, the black panther movement and the overall fight for social and economic justice.”

He added the song, creatively, was a reflection of the band trying something new in terms of its songwriting approach.
