The L.A. based band, Shiny Toy Guns, has released the artwok for its upcoming album, III. As can be seen here, the artwork features three large glass obelisks set against a rocky backdrop. the artwork is for the band’s upcoming album, “III.” “III” is due to be released Tuesday, October 30th. While waiting for the new release, the band is giving its fans the opportunity to download the song, ‘Waiting Alone.” the song was remixed by L.A. Riots, and is available via the band’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/shinytoyguns.
The cover art for the new album was developed by Ben Schwartz. Schwartz used a picture from Oklahoma based artist Benjy Russell for the artwork. The original picture was shot on location at a gypsum rock quarry in Oklahoma. Russell commented on the photo. “The album title III is very strong, simple and elegant, and visually it’s very sculptural. I always pictured the album artwork having the title of the album incorporated into the photo. I also wanted there to be a hardcore juxtaposition within the elements used,” he said. He expanded on his thoughts saying, ““There is an almost alien-like, razor sharp precision in the mirrored columns, which is in complete contrast to the sheer weight and strength in the boulders and craggy rock facing. I also wanted there to be an element of reflection both physically and metaphorically, especially with what the band has gone through to get to this third album. Not that I could have planned this any better, but in the reflection of the columns you can see a storm receding in the distance.”
