Independent pop punk band Card Reader premiered its latest single and video this week.

The band kicked off the weekend with the unveiling of its new single, ‘Reminder’ and the song’s video Friday. The song is available to stream and download through SpotifyApple MusicAmazon, and the band’s official Bancamp page.

The musical arrangement featured in Card Reader’s new single throws back to the pop punk sounds of bands, such as All Time Low, Blink-182, and New Found Glory. That is evidenced through the combination of the instrumentation and the vocal style.

No information about the song’s lyrical theme was featured in the press release announcing the premiere of the song and its video.

The video for ‘Reminder’ blends footage of the band performing its new single in a live setting and the band making its way around a city, having fun.

Front man Tom Petito talked about the video’s treatment.

“This video is a reflection of Interstate Music’s commitment to helping artists like us,” he said. “We played our concert right before the shoot. The next day their film crew took us all over MKE. We really enjoyed ourselves in the process. The folks at IM introduced us to an incredible music scene. They fully embraced our band and made us feel at home. Thanks to Interstate Music we are a band with more tools, more confidence and unlimited optimism moving forward. We can proudly say we have two home bases now! Long Island AND Milwaukee.”

In other news, Card Reader has a brief live run planned next month. The trio of live dates is noted below.

Card Reader Debuts ‘Mental Scars’ Video

More than three months after it debuted its then latest single, Card Reader has returned with its latest single and video.

The band debuted the video for its new single ‘Mental Scars‘ Saturday. The song and its video are the fourth from the band’s forthcoming EP by the same name. The band debuted the EP’s then latest single, ‘Sore Eyes‘ in July. The EP has also produced the singles ‘Familiar Voices,’ and ‘True Enemy.’

The video for the band’s new single presents the band performing its new single in what is meant to look like a rehearsal space, complete with the EP and song title spelled out in lit up letters. Audiences can download the new song free until Nov. 10 through the band’s official Bandcamp page.

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a pure pop punk composition that will appeal to fans of said genre with ease. The song’s lyrical content is tied into the overall theme of the EP, which founder Tom Petito discussed in a recent interview.

“This EP is called Mental Scars because everybody has them,” he said. “We all live with our past mistakes and failures. The difference is how we use them. We wanted to convey a message that inspires using your past as your greatest weapon. It’s not about anyone else but yourself. Create new motivation and hold yourself accountable for your dreams. Most importantly never give up on who you are.”

Card Reader Debuts New Single, ‘Sore Eyes’

Fledgling pop punk band Card Reader debuted its new single this week.

The band debuted its song ‘Sore Eyes’ Wednesday.  The song’s musical arrangement will appeal to fans of so many bands within the pop punk world, and its existential yet positive lyrical theme will appeal to just as many listeners, if not more.

Front man Tom Petito talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a recent interview.

“I wrote this song after I lost a close friend,” he said.  “The message is resounding: life is short, any day could be your last so don’t settle for less. Go after your dreams unapologetically.”

‘Sore Eyes’ is available to stream and download through Spotify, Apple Music and the band’s official Bandcamp page.

Card Reader was founded in 2015 by Petito after a decade of working with other bands.  The band’s motto rests on the mantra of believing in one’s self no matter what; refusal to settle for anything less than what makes one happy.
