ESPN To Feature Key ACC Matchup On 100th Episode of ‘College GameDay’

ESPN’s flagship college basketball program will mark a special anniversary with coverage of a key ACC men’s basketball matchup next weekend.

College GameDay Covered by State Farm will air its 100th episode next Saturday, Feb. 18. The broadcast will come live from the site of a showdown between UNC and Virginia.

The program will air live beginning at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN with an evening edition leading into the network’s pre-game Saturday Primetime presented by AT&T broadcast at 8 p.m. ET.  Game coverage is scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Rece Davis will anchor ESPN’s 11 a.m. edition of College GameDay Covered by State Farm.  Davis will be joined by analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams for additional commentary.

Dan Shulman will have the call for the game.  He will be joined by Jay Bilas for additional commentary.  Reporter Maria Taylor will be courtside for all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

Saturday’s broadcast will mark the 16th time UNC has appeared on College GameDay Covered by State Farm.  The Tarheels currently sit 8th in the AP’s NCAA Men’s College Basketball Top 25 standings while the Cavaliers currently sit 12th.

The teams are much closer in the ACC standings. UNC currently sits second and Virginia third.  Both teams trail the Florida State Seminoles, who currently lead the conference standings at 21-4 overall and 9-3 in the conference.

Cavs-Heels Matchup The Focus Of This Week’s College GameDay Broadcast

ESPN’s College GameDay Covered by State Farm is coming back to Virginia this weekend.

College GameDay Covered by State Farm will broadcast live from the campus of No. 7 Virginia this Saturday, February 27th. The network’s flagship college basketball program will air live from the home of the Cavaliers ahead of the team’s matchup with No. No. 5 UNC Saturday night. The game is ESPN’s spotlight game this week on Saturday Primetime presented by DIRECTV. It will air live on ESPN at 6:30pm ET. Saturday morning’s edition of College GameDay Covered by State Farm will air live at 11am ET. There will also be an evening edition of the broadcast leading up to Saturday night’s game.

Rece Davis anchors College GameDay Covered by State Farm. He is joined by analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg, and Jay Williams. Bilas will join Dan Shulman for the game’s coverage. Reporter Shannon Spake will also be on hand for additional commentary and news throughout the game.

Saturday’s matchup between the Cavs and Tarheels marks the tenth time overall that UNC has been the road team at the site of a GameDay broadcast. That is a record for the team. It also marks the second time this season that UNC has been the road team at a GameDay site.

Along with the details for Saturday’s broadcasts, the times for ESPN’s netflex games have been announced. They are as follows: Texas Tech at No. 2 Kansas (ESPN, Noon); Rhode Island at No. 15 Dayton (ESPN2, Noon); No. 12 Arizona at Utah (ESPN, 2 p.m.); Illinois State at Wichita State (ESPN2, 2 p.m.); No. 6 Maryland at No. 17 Purdue (ESPN, 4 p.m.); No. 19 Notre Dame at Florida State (ESPN2, 4 p.m.); Kansas State at No. 13 Iowa State (ESPN2, 6 p.m.); Florida at LSU (ESPN, 8:30 p.m.); Gonzaga at BYU (ESPN2, 8 p.m.); Fresno State at New Mexico (ESPN2, 10 p.m.) and UC Irvine at UC Davis (ESPN2, Midnight).

Each week, the site for College GameDay Covered by State Farm will be announced one week ahead of the given games. This ensures visits to the sites of top college basketball storylines and games that appear on the ESPN networks. ESPN Family Of Networks Add ACC Football Games To 2013 Schedule

Fans of both college football and of the ACC will get a big treat from the ESPN family of networks beginning this fall.  ESPN has officially announced that it will broadcast no fewer than twenty additional ACC college football games across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and ESPNU during the course of the 2013 season.  The first three weeks of the upcoming college football season will see every home game from specific ACC teams, as well as a road and neutral site matchup across the ESPN family of networks.  This is in addition to five previously released ACC games.

As an added bonus for ACC football fans, the new deal between the ACC and the ESPN family of networks means that they will get to see the Dr Pepper ACC Championship from Charlotte, North Carolina and the previously announced quartet of Thursday ESPN College Football  Primetime telecasts.  Also, the deal has guaranteed at least one game on “Black Friday.”

The whole schedule kicks off with a matchup between the University of North Carolina and SEC #8 South Carolina.  The game is the first of the four scheduled Thursday ESPN College Football Primetime telecasts.  The game is currently scheduled for Thursday, August 29th at 6pm on ESPN.  Virginia Tech and two-time defending BCS National Champion Alabama follow on August 31st at 5:30pm on ESPN.  The game, the Chick-fil-a Kickoff Game is scheduled to be played in Atlanta.  Miami will face #11 Florida on September 7th at noon on ESPN.  Also expected to be broadcast that day is a matchup between Virginia and 3 Oregon at 3:30pm on ABC and ESPN2.
