ESPN’s College Football Championship Preview Coverage Begins Today

The stage is officially set for the 2017 college football championship, and ESPN’s networks will have extensive preview coverage of the upcoming matchup today and tomorrow.

That coverage begins this afternoon at 1 p.m. on ESPN’s College Football Live.  ESPN will carry a special hour-long edition of its flagship college football program today and tomorrow on ESPN.  The broadcasts will air live from the campuses of Clemson and Alabama.

Adnan Virk will anchor the program’s broadcast live from Clemson, SC.  He will be joined by analysts Joey Galloway and Danny Kannell for additional commentary.  Reporter Marty Smith will also be on hand for additional news and insights.

Molly McGrath will head up the program’s broadcast live from Tuscaloosa, ALA.  She will be joined by analysts David Pollack and Booger McFarland for additional commentary.  Reporter Tom Rinaldi will also be on hand for additional news and interviews.

As an additional bonus, McGrath, Galloway, McFarland and Pollack will all be live on hand live in Tampa for Friday’s broadcast at 1 p.m. on ESPN.

College Football Live is just one of the ESPN networks’ programs that will offer extensive preview coverage of the college football championship.  ESPN’s flagship sports news broadcast SportsCenter will offer its own extensive coverage.

Jay Crawford will anchor tonight’s SportsCenter broadcast and Thursday’s 6 p.m. broadcast with Tom Rinaldi reporting live from Alabama and Marty Smith reporting live from South Carolina.  He will also anchor Friday’s broadcast live from Tampa.

Cari Champion will host the program’s 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. broadcast this morning from Clemson.  David Lloyd will host Thursday’s 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. broadcast Thursday from Alabama.

Sage Steele will anchor broadcasts on Friday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

New On-Air Teams Announced For ESPN’s Thursday, Friday Night College Football Coverage

ESPN has announced the on-air roster for this season’s coverage of college football on Thursday and Friday nights..

Thursday night broadcasts will be led by Dave Flemming and college football analyst Jesse Palmer.  Laura Rutledge will join the duo as a sideline reporter for the network’s Thursday night games.  This is in addition to her previously announced duties with The SEC Network’s SEC Nation broadcasts.  Friday night coverage will be led by Adam Amin.  He will be joined in the booth by analyst Mack Brown.  Molly McGrath will be on the sidelines for each game with all of the latest in-game news and interviews.

As an additional note, David Pollack has signed a new extension with ESPN that will see him appear on ESPN’s College GameDay each week for the foreseeable future.  The terms of his new deal also include a more prominent role on College Football Live and will also see him contributing more to the network’s studio shows this season.  Pollack originally joined ESPN in 2009 as a studio analyst before joining the College GameDay on-air crew in 2011.

Before moving to Thursday nights, Flemming handled play-by-play duties on ESPN’s Friday night college football games.  Amin previously worked the Saturday college football games for ESPN/ABC.  Rutledge most recently served as a sideline reporter for the SEC Network’s college football broadcasts.  Pollack most recently served as a game analyst on ESPN’s Thursday night college football broadcasts last season alongside play-by-play man Joe Tessitore and analyst Jesse Palmer.

Lee Fitting, Senior Coordinating Producer, was entirely supportive of the new appointments in discussing them and the related importance of ESPN’s college football coverage.  “The new opportunities for Dave, Adam and Laura prove, once again, the quality of our on-air lineup and the growth opportunities that exist at ESPN, while Molly’s addition adds another high-caliber reporter and host to our roster as we enter a new season,” Fitting said.  “Thursday and Friday night telecasts are an integral part of our college football coverage and we look forward to these two new commentating teams working these primetime games each week.”  Fitting also shared his thoughts on Pollack’s experience in relation to his new deal noting, “David’s analysis, insights and, most importantly, his opinions have elevated him to a top college football analyst.  Having him on our studio programming, nearly on a daily basis throughout the season, maximizes his strengths and makes ESPN’s college football coverage better.”

This week’s new appointments are just the latest on-air moves made by ESPN for its upcoming college football broadcasts.  The network also recently announced moves involving Brian Griese, Steve Levy, Greg McElroy, Samantha Ponder, and Allison Williams for its college football broadcasts.  New contracts were also announced for Dave Pasch and Bob Wischusen.

ESPN Networks’ College Football Media Days Schedule Announced

It’s almost that time again.  College football season is almost upon us once again.  In anticipation of its impending return ESPN has announced its plans for the sport’s annual Media Days.

ESPN and the ESPN networks will launch their coverage of college football’s conference media days beginning next Monday, July 11^th.  In all 14 Conference Media Days will be covered across ESPN’s family of networks and will continue into August.  It all begins on College Football Live.  ESPN’s daily college football news and information show returns next Monday, July 11^th.  It will continue daily throughout the season airing regularly from 1:30 – 2pm ET on ESPN.  Joe Tessitore will anchor the show’s broadcast in its first week back.  He will be joined by college football analysts Joey Galloway and Paul Finebaum.  Greg McElroy, Booger McFarland, and Marcus Spears will each make appearances from Hoover, Alabama, the site of the SEC Media Days.

ESPNU will have 30 hours of Media Days coverage.  That includes 10 three-hour College Football Media Days specials over 15 days beginning with the SEC (July 11^th – 14^th).  The Pac-12 is next on July 14^th, followed by the Big 12 July 18^th – 19^th.  From July 21^st – 22^nd ESPNU will cover the ACC’s Media Days.  Coverage of the Big Ten conference’s Media Days rounds out ESPNU’s Media Days coverage from July 25^th – 26^th.  Brendan Fitzgerald, Matt Schick, and Anish Shroff will share time anchoring ESPNU’s Media Days broadcasts.  They will be joined primarily by analyst Tom Luginbill for additional commentary.  Kevin Carter (July 14^th) and Charles Arbuckle (July 25^th) will also make appearances during the network’s coverage of Media Days.  Anish Shroff will be live onsite in Charlotte, North Carolina for coverage of the ACC’s Media Days.  ESPNU’s coverage schedule is noted below.

ESPN’s CGD To Broadcast Live From Ohio State This Weekend

ESPN is headed to the Buckeye State this weekend.

This weekend, ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will come live from the campus of Ohio State University. It marks the first time since 2010 that the Emmy Award-winning college football broadcast will come live the the campus of The Ohio State University. Saturday’s broadcast will come live from The Oval in front of the William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library beginning at 9am ET and will run until noon eastern. The broadcast is in anticipation of Saturday night’s showdown between the #2 Buckeyes and #9 Michigan State Spartans. That game will be the feature match on Saturday Night Football on ABC presented by Wells Fargo. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 3:30pm ET.

Rece Davis will anchor Saturday morning’s broadcast. He will be joined at the desk by analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard and David Pollack. Contributors Samantha Ponder, Tom Rinaldi, George Whitfield, and Gene Wojciechowski will be on hand for additional commentary an reports. Herbstreit will have the call Saturday night on ABC. He will be joined in the booth by Chris Fowler. Reporter Heather Cox will also be on hand for additional commentary and reports.

Friday afternoon, Samantha Ponder, Desmond Howard, and David Pollack will be on site for ESPN’s weekly broadcast of College Football Live. That broadcast will begin at 2pm ET. Over on ESPN Radio, Doug Kezirian will anchor ESPN Radio’s broadcast of College GameDay. He will be joined by Brad Edwards and Trevor Matich for the broadcast. ESPN’s CGD Crew Heads South This Week For SEC Showdown

The SEC takes center stage this weekend on ESPN.
ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will head down south this weekend for its weekly broadcast. The network’s flagship college football program will come live from the campus of The University of Alabama this Saturday, September 19th. The weekly broadcast will air live from 9am ET – noon ET ahead of Saturday night’s matchup between the second ranked Crimson Tide and #15 Rebel Black Bears of Ole Miss. Kickoff For Saturday night’s game is currently scheduled for 9:15pm ET.

Rece Davis continues his freshman season as host of ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot. He will be joined at the desk by analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, and David Pollack. Contributors Samantha Ponder, Tom Rinaldi, George Whitfield, and Gene Wojciechowski will also be on hand for additional commentary. ESPN’s College Football Live Returns July 14th

The countdown is on!

College football season is mere weeks away. And in celebration, ESPN’s College Football Live returns next Monday, July 14th with all of the latest college football news and headlines. Chris Cotter will host. He will be joined by a rotating group of analysts that includes: Joey Galloway, Brian Griese, Desmond Howard, Danny Kanell, Trevor Matich, and Robert Smith in a half-hour round table setting.

Once football season is officially under way, College Football Live will broadcast live each Friday from the site of ESPN’s College GameDay Built by the Home Depot. And beginning next Monday, July 14^th, football fans will get two and a half hours of football programming each day on ESPN Monday – Friday. Tebow Added To SEC Network, ESPN Staff

Former college football standout Tim Tebow had a hard time finding his place in the NFL.  But now, it looks like the former Florida Gator star will be hanging up his cleats in favor of a suit and tie.  That’s because he has been hired by the SEC Network.  Tebow will serve as an analyst for the networks’ pre-game show SEC Nation.  The terms of his deal also include contributions on ESPN’s SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, and ESPN’s annual Heisman Trophy award show coverage.  Tebow will make his ESPN debut on Monday, January 6^th.  He will serve as an analyst for ESPN’s pre-game coverage of the 2013 Vizio BCS National Championship.  Audiences can catch his contributions on SportsCenter at 9am, College Football Live at 3pm, and College GameDay Built By The Home Depot at 7pm.

Along with his duties on ESPN, Tebow will also be part of the fledgling SEC Network’s studio coverage of college football’s new College Football Playoffs.  The new playoff system begins with the 2014 college football season.  Tebow is the first college football analyst signed by the new network.  He will be joined Joe Tessitore and Paul Finebaum.  Tessitore is the lead ringside announcer for ESPN’s Friday Night Fights and will be host of SEC Nation.  Finebaum is host of The Paul Finebaum radio show.  The very first edition of SEC Nation will broadcast live Thursday, August 28^th from Columbia, South Carolina where the Gamecocks of South Carolina will host the Aggies of Texas A&M University.  The SEC Network will have exclusive coverage of the game.  The weekly pre-game show will make its two-hour Saturday debut on Saturday, August 30 from 10am – noon.  That broadcast will come live from the campus of Auburn, where the Tigers will host the Arkansas Razorbacks.  SEC Nation will air every Saturday throughout the college football season.  It will offer a comprehensive look at all of the biggest of each week’s college football matchups.
