In related news, College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will air live Saturday from Augusta, GA, the home of the Masters.
The special edition of ESPN’s CGD will air live from Augusta National Golf Club. The broadcast will preview The PGA’s Masters Golf Tournament and will come specifically from the Par 3 course, the site of the Masters Par 3 Contest. The Masters Gold Tournament was postponed from its normal date in April to Saturday, Nov. 14 as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, ESPN and Sports Content, commented on this weekend’s broadcast in a prepared statement.
“Anytime College GameDay travels to a new destination it’s special, and the opportunity to be on the grounds of Augusta National Golf Club during the Masters is extraordinary,” said Pitaro. “As this iconic event coincides with the college football season for the first time, we look forward to getting fans ready for a football Saturday, while also showcasing the Masters and the greatest golfers in the world.”
A “virtual pit’ will allow fans to take part in the broadcast from the safety of their own homes. Fans who want to take part in the ‘virtual pit’ can register for a chance for inclusion in the event here.
Rece Davis will anchor the broadcast. Five-time Emmy Award-winning analyst Kirk Herbstreit, Heisman Trophy winner and NFL MVP Desmond Howard, College Football Hall of Fame inductee and former Georgia All-American Georgia undergrad and MBA alum Maria Taylor, and Tom Rinaldi will join Davis for the broadcast. Additionally, Lee Corso will contribute remotely from his home.
Other contributors expected to appear on Saturday’s edition of College GameDay Built by The Home Depot are: Jen Lada, Pat McAfee, and Gene Wojciechowski. Along with appearing on Saturday’s broadcast, Rinaldi will also repot on The Masters for his 13th consecutive year.
This year is the first that ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot has aired from Augusta. However, the program has previously welcomed some well-known college golf athletes. PGA golfer Ricky Fowler (former Oklahoma State golfer), and fellow PGA star Justin Thomas (former Alabama golfer) have appeared on the program.
ESPN will air the first and second rounds of The Masters tournament from 1 – 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 12-13. ESPN will offer expanded PGA coverage this year from Nov. 9-15 on ESPN+, including exclusive practice round coverage on Nov. 10-11, and coverage of Holes 4,5, and 6 on all four days of the tournament. Additionally, SportsCenter will have special coverage from The Masters throughout the week of the tournament.

The network’s flagship college basketball program is scheduled to premiere at 11 a.m. on Jan. 19 with coverage of the Duke Blue Devils and the No. 4 Virginia Cavaliers. Live coverage of the game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Rece Davis will anchor the morning broadcast. He will be joined by analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams for additional commentary. The program will broadcast live from Cameron Indoor Stadium.

ESPN has announced its broadcast schedule for Week 11 of the 2018 college football season.
This week’s schedule features a number of games that have major playoff implications. One of the most notable of the week’s games is an ACC matchup between undefeated No. 2 Clemson and No. 22 Boston College. The headlining Saturday Night Football game is scheduled to air live at 8 p.m. Saturday on ABC.
ESPN’s College GameDay Built by the Home Depot will set up the game Saturday morning starting at 9 a.m. It will broadcast live from the campus of Boston College. Saturday’s broadcast marks the first time since 2009 that College GameDay Built by the Home Depot has aired from Boston College.
The Eagles are 4-1 in ACC play and second to Clemson in the ACC’s Atlantic Division. The matchup is critical in Clemson’s search for a division (and conference) title, and for the team’s hopes for a spot in this year’s College Football playoffs.
Other key matchups featured in this week’s schedule are No. 7 Oklahoma taking on Oklahoma State at 3:30 p.m. on ABC and No. 8 Washington State on the road against Colorado at the same time on ESPN. Both games have their own importance to this year’s college football playoffs impacts.
Also, if the Sooners and Cougars each win their games, they will play in their respective conference title games. A win for either team additionally puts each group in good position to be considered for the playoffs.
Georgia hosts Auburn at 7 p.m. on ESPN in yet another key matchup for Week 11. ESPN2 will feature yet another big game at noon as UCF and Navy (AAC) face off in Florida. The Knights have the nation’s longest winning streak while the Midshipmen are coming off a loss to Cincinnati in Week 10, so they will be hungry to get back in the “W” column, and to stop the Knights’ streak.

Audiences can expect to see Desmond Howard every fall for the foreseeable future on ESPN.
ESPN announced Tuesday that Howard had signed a new multi-year deal with the worldwide leader in sports. The terms of Howard’s new deal were not released, though Lee Fitting, ESPN senior coordinating producer, assured audiences Howard will be with the network for a long time thanks to the new deal.
The name Desmond Howard is synonymous with college football,” Fitting said. “Desmond has been a key part of our College GameDay family for over 10 years, and will be into the foreseeable future. Desmond has established himself as a respected analyst, and now he is going to continue to deliver honest and thoughtful opinions elevating our college football coverage.”
Howard’s College GameDay cohorts Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit agreed, with Davis saying Howard’s “honesty and candor resonates with fans and makes our show better.” Herbstreit said Howard “continues to grow as an analyst and works hard to be dialed in on the subject matters each week,” adding he was anticipating the next number of years with Howard.
Howard was upbeat as he discussed his new contract, praising his fellow broadcasters.
“I am both excited and reflective as I embark on my 13th season with ESPN,” Howard said. “When I transitioned from playing the game to talking about it for a living, I could not have landed on a better team than College GameDay, where I’ve been fortunate to learn from and grow with some of the very best in this industry.”
He added he was already anticipating the start of the 2017 college football season.
“Likewise, I consider myself lucky to be able to travel the country throughout the fall and be surrounded by so many die-hard college football fans who gather together to help us create a uniquely electric atmosphere every Saturday morning…Is it August yet?”
Howard’s football career reaches back to his time at The University of Michigan (1988 – 1991). He was the first receiver in Big 10 history to lead the conference in scoring, setting or tying five NCAA records and 12 single-season Michigan records.
He won the Heisman Trophy in 1991 by the second largest margin of victory in the trophy’s history at 85 percent of the vote. The same year Howard, who also earned All-American status during his college career, was also awarded the Walter Camp Trophy and the Maxwell Award.
Even after he finished his college career, the awards kept coming for Howard. He was inducted into the:
Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame and the Gator Bowl Hall of Fame in 2005
State of Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2007
University of Michigan Hall of Honor in 2008
National Football Foundation College Football of Fame in 2010
College Football Hall of Fame in 2011
Howard’s University of Michigan jersey was retired in 2015. His accolades kept coming during his professional career including being drafted to the Washington Redskins in 1992 before eventually playing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions.
He was named Super Bowl XXXI MVP in 1997 after returning 99-yard kickoff return that resulted in a touchdown. The honor, earned as a member of the Green Bay Packers, made Howard the first and only special teams player to be named a Super Bowl MVP.
After finishing his 11-season career, Howard made the move to television, joining ESPN in 2005.

Pollack most recently served as a game analyst on ESPN’s Thursday night college football broadcasts last season alongside play-by-play man Joe Tessitore and analyst Jesse Palmer.
Lee Fitting, Senior Coordinating Producer, was entirely supportive of the new appointments in discussing them and the related importance of ESPN’s college football coverage. “The new opportunities for Dave, Adam and Laura prove, once again, the quality of our on-air lineup and the growth opportunities that exist at ESPN, while Molly’s addition adds another high-caliber reporter and host to our roster as we enter a new season,” Fitting said. “Thursday and Friday night telecasts are an integral part of our college football coverage and we look forward to these two new commentating teams working these primetime games each week.” Fitting also shared his thoughts on Pollack’s experience in relation to his new deal noting, “David’s analysis, insights and, most importantly, his opinions have elevated him to a top college football analyst. Having him on our studio programming, nearly on a daily basis throughout the season, maximizes his strengths and makes ESPN’s college football coverage better.”
This week’s new appointments are just the latest on-air moves made by ESPN for its upcoming college football broadcasts. The network also recently announced moves involving Brian Griese, Steve Levy, Greg McElroy, Samantha Ponder, and Allison Williams for its college football broadcasts. New contracts were also announced for Dave Pasch and Bob Wischusen.
