Through Fire Releases New Album’s Third Single; Announces New Live Dates

Courtesy: Sumerian Records

Rock band Through Fire gave audiences another preview of its new album this week with the premiere of the album’s latest single.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Devolution‘ Tuesday. The song is the third single from the band’s forthcoming album, Devil’s Got You Dreamin’, which is scheduled for release April 21. The record has also produced the singles, ‘Lose It‘ and ‘Karma Kills.’

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Devolution’ is similar to that of ‘Lose It’ what with its melodic hard rock approach. Yet again, the sound and stylistic approach taken here is easily comparable to works from the likes of Awake At Last, Three Days Grace and others of that ilk.

The song’s lyrical theme presents a familiar social commentary about the state of the world and how mankind is handling everything that has happened and is happening. The band addressed this in a prepared statement.

“Devolve, destruct, in God we trust… so many things in the world seem to be going in reverse,” the statement reads. “One step forward and two steps back. This song is about keeping our eyes open to everything going on around us.”

In other news, Through Fire has expanded its tour plans for the spring and summer. On top of already announced dates with Saliva, the band was recently announced as support for Ill Nino’s spring headlining tour in celebration of its classic album, Confession. Tickets are available here.

The tour is scheduled to launch May 4 in Jacksonville, NC and to run through June 4 in Tyler, TX. The upcoming tour will see Through Fire share time alongside Dropout Kings as support for Ill Nino and will take the bands largely through America’s heartland, with most of the dates in states, such as Montana, Colorado, Illinois, and Texas. The tour’s few east coast dates open its run between May 4 May 10.

Through Fire Announces New Album, Tour Details; Debuts New Single, Lyric Video

Courtesy: Cosa Nostra PR

Rock band Through Fire is scheduled to release its new album this spring, and in anticipation, the band has debuted the album’s lead single and its companion video.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Lose It‘ and the song’s companion lyric video Tuesday. The song is featured in the band’s forthcoming album, Devil’s Got You Dreamin’, which is scheduled for release April 21.

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is an easy fit for any active rock radio programmer’s play list. That is due to the melodic hard rock approach that the band took to the song and the fully accessible sound that said approach generates. The guitar riffs and the melancholy vocal delivery style immediately make the arrangement comparable to works from the likes of Awake At Last, Three Days Grace and others of that ilk.

No information about the song’s lyrical theme was presented in the news release announcing the debut of the single and video. Judging from the lyrical content, it comes across as a commentary about how divided the nation has become.

The lyrics in question are presented in the song’s lyric video over the image of a skeleton in a burning bed. A clock stands next to the bed, with stars in the background.

In other news, Through Fire is scheduled to join Saliva on tour from March 17 to April 5 in Oklahoma City, OK. The bands’ run together features performances scheduled in Des Moines, IA; Nashville, TN and Wyandotte, MI. The tour’s schedule is noted below:

Lions At The Gate Premieres New Single, Video

Courtesy: Cosa Nostra PR

Hard rock super group Lions at the Gate debuted its latest single and video this week.

The band The band, which is composed of former members of Ill Nino, Machine Head, Westfield Massacre and Silence The Messenger, premiered its new single, ‘Find My Way‘ and its video Tuesday. The song features a guest appearance by Jinjer vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk.

The premiere of ‘Find My Way’ and its video comes more than a month after the band premiered its then latest single, ‘Bed Of Nails.’ The band premiered that single March 2.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Find My Way’ opens with a piano line that listeners who are well versed in classical music will recognize before launching into a full on Slipknot-esque aural assault. The intensity of that moment and the rest of the song’s verses is in direct contrast to the gentility of the song’s choruses, making for plenty of engagement and entertainment. The noted classical piano line bookends the arrangement, closing it out, too, making the song complete.

Front man Christian Machado talked about the song’s musical arrangement in a prepared statement, which also included a discussion on Schmayluk’s inclusion in the track.

“With ‘Find My Way’, we tried to break all the formulaic rules on this one,” the statement reads. Pushed the boundaries, took it to extremes. In the end, we realized how rewarding it was fitting intensely contrasting musical elements into one track. And it is a killer heavy track that also offers a beautifully haunting melody. From the onset it seemed perfect for Tatiana’s voice, the fact that she wound up on the track is mind-blowing. Her voice is absolutely stunning and it is a huge honor having her on.”

Machado said the song’s lyrical theme is a reference to his own mental health concerns.

“Lyrically the song walks the line between fear, surrender, and the will to overcome,” he said. “At the time of writing the album, I felt pinned by so many things gone wrong in my life. I remember I just held on to hope and faith long enough till I found a place of safe surrender. A place where I could slowly lift the weight off, finally be untethered.”

The video for ‘Find My Way’ is a familiar style presentation. It features the band performing its new single in a specially designed sound stage, complete with pyro. Shmayluk joins the band in the presentation.

Lions at the Gate released two other singles last year in the form of ‘Scapegoat‘ and its video, and ‘Not Even Human‘ and its companion video.

Amon Amarth Takes Audiences To The High Seas With New Single, Video

Courtesy: Cosa Nostra PR

Amon Amarth continued its tales of Viking lore this week with a new single and video.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Put Your Back Into The Oar‘ Thursday, along with its companion video. The song and its video are the band’s first since the re-issue of its single, ‘Masters of War’ last May.

The video for Amon Amarth’s new single features a young archaeologist who discovers a skull as she investigates an ancient site. When she takes the skull into her tent and lays down for a nap, she has a dream that takes her back to the days of the Vikings. The woman enjoys a meal with the Vikings (who are played by the band members) and rows along with them as they take to the sea. She is even on hand for a battle between the Vikings and another group of men. According to the video’s credits, its story was based on a story by Lachlan Marks and Ryan Mackfall.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Put Your Back Into The Oar’ is everything that audiences have come to expect from the band. From the death metal style growls of front man Johan Hegg to the heavy, rich instrumentation, the song fully immerses listeners in its presentation.

The song’s lyrical theme is just as familiar as it tells the story of of Vikings at battle and on the sea.

In related news, Amon Amarth has released a limited edition 12-inch picture disc and merchandise bundles through Victorious Merchandise and EMP.

Lions at the Gate Debuts New Single, ‘Scapegoat,’ Companion Video

Hard rock super group Lions at the Gate debuted its latest single and video this week.

The band, which is composed of former members of Ill Nino, Machine Head, Westfield Massacre and Silence The Messenger, premiered its new single, ‘Scapegoat‘ and its video Friday. The premieres come more than three months after the band premiered its then latest single,  ‘Not Even Human‘ and its companion video.

Courtesy: Cosa Nostra PR

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a heavy, intense, aggro-roc/nu-metal type composition that lends itself to comparison to works from Ill Nino, as well as other similar acts that rose to fame during the late 90s and early 2000s.

The lyrical theme focuses on damaged people who prefer to damage others in order to misguidedly fix themselves.

Front man Cristian Machado talked about this and about the song’s musical arrangement in a prepared statement.

“Scapegoat was a song brought in by Ahrue [Luster] (ex-Machine Head, ex-Ill Nino),” said Machado. “Everyone liked the song immediately, including our producer Kyle Odell. The instrumental had a chilling and beautiful metallic melody. I was quickly moved by the music and began to wonder about my own life. From there we began to sculpt a message. Dysfunctional people don’t want to apologize or make amends, they want to resolve what’s broken in them by damaging others. It’s their great misconception that the scapegoat will be weak and remain powerless when it takes great strength to carry a burden you bare no guilt in.

Added Machado, “Kyle and I realized early on that I was going through a very challenging time in my life with no outlet other than the music, and that perhaps this was what I needed to begin healing. A lot of painful memories were dug up and dealt with whilst recording. I am grateful the guys had the patience to help me work through it, and that music is still in my life. Hopefully these songs can speak to other like minded people and offer a sense of healing.”

The video for ‘Scapdegoat’ is intense in its own right, even in its simplicity. It features the band performing its new single on a dressed up soundstage as the song plays over. The video’s energy comes through its dizzying camera work.

Machado additionally talked about the song’s video in the noted statement.

“Thevideo for scapegoat is a performance art video,” he said. “The band individually portrayed personal emotion as part of the art. Vicente Cordero’s approach allowed us to feel comfortable in an environment where the performance and the emotion is the focus.”

John 5 Announces New Album Details; Premieres Album’s Lead Single, Companion Video

Courtesy: Cosa Nostra PR

John 5 will release his latest album this fall.

The guitarist (a.k.a. John Lowery) is scheduled to release his new album, Sinner, Oct. 29. Pre-orders are open.

In anticipation of the album’s release, Lowery premiered the album’s lead single, ‘Que Pasa,’ and its companion video Friday. The song features a guest appearance by Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine. It features a musical arrangement that is easily comparable to works from fellow guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani.

The video for ‘Que Pasa’ features Lowery and his fellow musicians on stage in order to give audiences a look at what a live John 5 show looks like. Mustaine shows up on video singing the song’s only lyrics, “Que pasa, people/Que pasa.” Yes, it is that simple.

Lowery spoke highly of Mustaine during a recent interview.

“I have such an appreciation for Dave, and I love his voice, guitar playing and songwriting. And he kills it on ‘Que Pasa,'” he said. “It was such a joy to have him on this track.”

Lowery also discussed new album.

“When people hear this record, I want them to say, ‘Oh, that’s John 5,’” he said. “What you get with Sinner is the best of me. I just want to write memorable riffs that people will enjoy. When I sit on my couch and play my guitar, I play the same things you hear on the instrumental records. It’s honest. It’s real. It’s not a façade. This is how I play. This is what I love to do.”

Ice Nine Kills Debuts Eerie Cover Of Elvis’ ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’

Courtesy: Cosa Nostra PR/Fearless Records

Ice Nine Kills debuted has a special new git for audiences this Valentine’s Day.

The band debuted its cover of Elvis’ ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love‘ Tuesday along with its companion video. The band’s take on the timeless tune stays largely true to its source material, but adds its own unsettling touch to the song, much in the vein of the band’s existing catalog. In a similar fashion, one can also compare INK’s take on the song to Sting’s eerie stalker song ‘Every Breath You Take.’

Charnas discussed the decision to cover the song during a recent interview.

“I’ve always been a big Elvis fan so the idea of taking this classic and splattering it with some signature INK bloodshed struck me as a match made in hell!,” he said.

The video that accompanies the band’s take on ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ also follows the band’s trademark horror style presentation. It finds front man Spencer Charnas in a strait jacket in a padded room, singing the song, and on stage in a vintage outfit. In other points in the video, Charnas’ character sits on a couch, looking through a photo album that goes even as far back as the band’s video for its song ‘Stabbing in the Dark.’ Another visual from the photo album is Charnas’ character killing the woman that he “couldn’t help falling in love with.” Ultimately it leads up to a shocking finale that will be left for audiences to discover for themselves.
