The Reed Effect Debuts New Single, ‘Trampled Under,’ Video

Courtesy: Cowgirlzen Entertainment

The Reed Effect premiered its latest single and video this week.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Trampled Under’ and its companion video Wednesday. Their premiere follows that of ‘Rise Up‘ and its companion video, which the band premiered in September, and ‘Fine Here,‘ which the band premiered in March. All three songs are featured in the band’s album, 1973.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Trampled Under’ is a unique presentation that stands apart from its counterparts on the band’s new album. Front man Kirk Reeds’ vocals are comparable to those of Collective Soul front man Ed Roland. His vocal delivery style and sound pairs with the guitar arrangement to make the song even more comparable to works from Collective Soul. On the other side though, are the inclusion of the sitar and tabla to the mix. Their addition to the song makes for even more interest to the overall arrangement.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the debut of the band’s new single and video. Lyrics were not provided with the song’s video, either.

The song’s video features Reed bound by ropes, and pairs that with footage of him and his band mates performing their new single on a sound stage meant to look like a live setting. Eventually, Reed breaks free from the ropes in the video’s final scenes. One has to assume that this plays into the song’s lyrical theme, considering that Reed said of the song that it is “the darkest and most emotional” song on the band’s new album.

Ventruss Releases Its New EP, ‘Serpent’; Debuts EP’s Latest Single

Courtesy: MVK Music Group

Never say never. That should be Ventruss’ motto.

That is because more than five months after debuting what its members said at the time was the last single from its new EP, Serpent, Ventruss has debuted another single from the 2021 release. The band premiered its new single, ‘Spirit of The Chosen‘ and its video Friday. The song is the fourth single from the six-song record.

The band premiered the EP’s title track and its companion video Oct. 29. The EP has also produced the singles, ‘Sentiment,‘ ‘Talladega.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Spirit of the Chosen’ is a driving, upbeat composition that is grounded in its solid time keeping and its equally cutting guitar riffs and enveloping vocals. The low end from the bass rounds out the composition with its own touch, too. The whole immediately lends the work to those of bands, such as Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, and others of that ilk.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announce the song’s premiere. The lyrics provided with the song’s video makes relatively clear that the song deals with someone coping with the loss of a loved one. This is inferred directly through the lines, “Sent to the sky/Seen through your eyes/With the wings you’re given to fly/And soar through the sky/Why did you die?”

Serpent was released Friday through MVK Music Group.

Owls & Aliens Debuts New Single, ‘These Vices’

Independent rock band Owls & Aliens debuted its latest single this week.

The band premiered its new single, ‘These Vices‘ Wednesday. The song’s premiere comes more than two months after the premiere of the band’s then latest single, ‘Tsunami‘ and its video.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘These Vices’ is a unique presentation. It is unique in that it blends a variety of influences for its whole. The clean vocals and the instrumentation lend themselves collectively exhibit influences of Tool. The screams and instrumentation puts the song more in the vein of an emocore style presentation. It is a unique combination, but still engaging and entertaining.

Rhythm guitarist Travis Siebecke talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

“Lyrically, the song centers around depression, addiction, and most of all are about looking inwards in one’s self in order to gain personal reflection and direction,” he said. “As being the first song our band created to feature me as a lead vocalist, it allows for a completely different narrative and display of Owls & Aliens to share with our fans. All of us members feel it’s important to always have the most honest and genuine manner possible, and we feel like this song delivers those qualities perfectly.”

In other news, Owls & Aliens is involved in a contest on Twitch known as The Battle for the Big Stage. Put on by the Space Zebra Show, the contest gives one band the chance to play the Main Stage at this year’s Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL. The festival is scheduled to take place May 19-22.

Drop Top Alibi Debuts New Single, ‘Dylsong,’ Companion Video

Courtesy: Cowgirlzen Entertainment

Independent rock band Drop Top Alibi debuted its latest single and video this week.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Dylsong‘ and its video Thursday. The song’s musical arrangement is a composition that many audiences will find familiar. The pairing of the guitar and bass line pair with the vocals here and collectively lend themselves to comparison to The Toadies’ hit song, ‘Possum Kingdom.’ It is an infectious presentation that will keep audiences engaged and entertained.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the premiere of the song and its video. No lyrics are provided with the video, either. Listening through the song, audiences will find the lyrics open to interpretation.

The video for ‘Dylsong’ is interesting in its own right. It is a simple presentation that features a television monitor that shows what is meant to look like closed circuit television footage of the band a la Big Brother. Again, with the song’s lyrics being up to interpretation, it is difficult to know if that simple presentation is connected with the song’s theme, but it makes for an interesting viewing experience, regardless.

Everglaze Debuts New Single, ‘Click, Bang,’ Companion Video

Courtesy: Cowgirlzen Entertainment

Independent rock band Everglaze debuted its new single and video this week.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Click, Bang‘ and its video Friday. The song’s musical arrangement is a light, pop rock style composition that will appeal easily to any college rock fan. That is especially evidenced through the subtle pairing of the song’s guitar and bass lines. The interesting thing about the arrangement is the contrast of its energy to the song’s lyrical theme.

The song’s lyrical theme centers on personal relationships, as the band noted in a prepared statement.

‘”In the music industry as well as other entrepreneurial positions, we’ve all encountered people that don’t believe in us. It could be your mom, friend, dad, or teacher. in this particular case, the story of this song came about with an ex-relationship,” the statement reads.

The statement continues, “‘Click Bang’ encapsulates a time when one of our band members had an unexpected and unwanted encounter with an ex at one of our shows The situation really aggravated him at this particular show and he finally decided to write about it in a way that may be relatable to others. The verses of the song narrate the point of view of what the ex may think you are thinking while trying to catch your attention once again. The transition to the chorus and the chorus itself is pretty much the writers’ self-spoken way of saying back to their ex, “Click Bang You Wish Baby”’

The video for ‘Click, Bang’ is a relatively straight forward presentation. It features the band performing its new single in a live setting.

‘Click, Bang’ is the band’s sixth single. The band’s five other singles are available to stream through its official Spotify channel.

Everglaze To Release New Single, Video Friday

Courtesy: Everglaze

Independent rock band Everglaze is scheduled to release its latest single and video this week.

The band is scheduled to release its new single, ‘Click, Bang’ Friday, along with the song’s companion video. In anticipation of the single’s release, the band released a short trailer for the pair Feb. 16. Audiences can pre-save the single here.

The band posted a live performance of the song to YouTube April 30 to its official website. That version of the song comes across stylistically similar to what is presented in the brief trailer that the band posted. The only different between the takes comes through the song’s energy. The studio rendition seems more upbeat than the live take. That could have been because the band simply chose to take a slightly more relaxed approach in that case.

The transition to the chorus and the chorus itself is pretty much the writers’ self-spoken way of saying back to their ex, “Click Bang You Wish Baby”’

When ‘Click Bang’ releases, it will be the band’s sixth single. The band’s five other singles are available to stream through its official Spotify channel.

Fire Follows Debuts Lyric Video For New Single, ‘Crimson Rose’

Courtesy: Cowgirlzen Entertainment

Fire Follows premiered the video for its latest single this month.

The band debuted the lyric video for its new single, ‘Crimson Rose’ Feb. 2. The song is the band’s first new single since the release of its single, ‘Father O Father‘ last July. That song’s premiere came less than two months after the band premiered its then latest single, ‘Home’ and its companion lyric video.

The video features the song’s lyrics placed over footage of various items, such as a dancer, a person with a TV for a head, and blood-soaked sheet music. The band’s new single plays over the collective imagery as the video plays out.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Crimson Rose’ opens with a lone piano line and vocals before eventually launching into a full-on rap-rock/nu-metal style composition. That nu-metal approach and sound is easily comparable to works from the likes of P.O.D. and Discrepancies.

Front man and founder Chris Watt talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a brief statement.

“The track could be thought of as a love son, centered around overcoming obstacles,” he said.

‘Crimson Rose’ was mixed by Kellen McGregor (Memphis May Fire) and mastered by Maor Applebaum.

Owls & Aliens Debuts ‘Tsunami’ Video

Courtesy: Cowgirlzen Entertainment

Independent rock band Owls & Aliens debuted the video for its latest single this month.

The band premiered the video for its single, ‘Tsunami‘ Feb. 9. The video features the band performing its new single on a windswept beach as the song plays over. Clouds loom over the band, whose members are each bundled up to survive the setting.

The musical arrangement featured in the new single is a catchy composition that echoes the post-grunge sounds of the 90s. The positive sound and energy exuded through the arrangement pairs well with the song’s lyrical theme, which is positive in its own right.

The band discussed the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

‘”Tsunami”has an optimistic and uplifting feel as it’s about making the conscious choice to get back up when life kicks you down,” the statement reads. “It’s about perseverance and hope. We believe in each other and we are incredibly proud of this song, as it reflects the friendship and the loyalty that has developed through Owls & Aliens. The only time you should look down on someone is to help them up.”

‘Tsunami’ is Owls & Aliens’ third single. The band has also released the singles, ‘Mercy‘ and ‘You Can’t Save Everyone.’
