The Jab Takes Listeners To The ‘Dank Mississippi’ In Its New Single

Courtesy: Medicine/The Prchard/Earshot Media

The Jab debuted the second single from its new album this week.

The band debuted the song ‘Dank Mississippi‘ Friday.  The song is featured in the band’s forthcoming album Consume.  The LP is scheduled for release Tuesday through Medicine/The Orchard.

‘Dank Mississippi’ presents a musical arrangement that will appeal to fans of the southern rock genre that is similar to the arrangement at the center of the album’s lead single ‘Riot.’  The first acts that come to mind in considering comparisons are Zakk Wylde’s very first band, Pride & Glory,’ ‘Black Stone Cherry’ and Charm City Devils, in examining the song’s arrangement.  The song is available to stream and download now through Spotify, Apple Music and The Jab’s official YouTube channel.

The song’s lyrical content comes across as possibly a commentary of sorts.  Front man Jam Alker sings in the song’s lead verse, “Tip my hand in the river/Make me quiver/Let it kiss me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi/Hold my hand till the preacher man gets me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi/Cold, dark, dank Mississippi.”  He continues in the song’s second verse, “Hold my hand in the river/Make me shiver/Then deliver me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi/Give it to me slowly/Let the holy water hit me/On the banks of the dank Mississippi.”  He adds in the song’s third verse, “Strip my bones in the river/Let me wither…/In the dank Mississippi/Carry me home/Who’s gonna carry me to the light in the dank Mississippi?”

The Jab will tour in support of Consume beginning Wednesday when it joins Crobot on the road.  The tour is scheduled to run through Feb. 29 in Baltimore, MD. It features performances in cities, such as Ft. Collins, CO; Corpus Christi, TX and Monroe, LA.  The tour’s schedule is noted below.

Red Tide Rising Announces New Temporary Drummer

Courtesy: Head First Entertainment

Red Tide Rising will have a new face behind the drums as it heads out on tour with Sevendust and Crobot.

The band has announced that Glendon Crain (John 5’s Loser, Hollywood Undead, gODHEAD) will fill in temporarily for regular drummer Matt Guerin as the band heads out on the road.  That is because Guerin is currently enjoying his honeymoon with his wife.  Guitarist Andrew Whiteman had only good things to say of Crain when discussing his appointment.  “I’m super psyched to have Glen Crain filling in for us on this tour!,” Whiteman said.  “He’s a badass drummer who also happens to be friends with our buddy Mike Luce from Drowning Pool and he’s a great fir for this run. He brings it every night and we mesh as if we have always been in a band together.”

Crain echoed Whiteman’s sentiment about joining RTR.  “I’m very excited for the opportunity to fill in on drums for Red Tide Rising,” he said.  “The resolve to create quality music is very apparent in this group and that in turn pushed me to bring out the best I’ve got. We hope to see you guys out on the road with Crobot and the mighty Sevendust!”

Crain, a Kansas City native, started his recording career with Capitol Records band The Feds.  He recorded and performed with that band from 1995 – 2001.  In 2001 he joined The Losers, which featured Rob Zombi/Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5.  He stepped away from Loser in 2004 and joined gODHEAD in 2005.  A stint with Hollywood Undead followed his time in gODHEAD from 2008 – 2010.  He then went on to help found All Hail The Yeti but no longer plays with that band.

Red Tide Rising will be in Bloomington, Illinois today, August 2nd and Minneapolis, Minnesota tomorrow, August 3rd.  The band’s current tour schedule is noted in full below.  Its tour is in support of its new EP Voices.

02 Aug – Bloomington, IL – Castle Theatre
03 Aug – Minneapolis, MN – Mill City Nights
05 Aug – Sturgis, SD – Full Throttle
06 Aug – Ft. Collins, CO – Aggie Theatre
07 Aug – Salt Lake City, UT – The Complex
09 Aug – Regina, SK CANADA – Conexus Convention Hall

The audience had such a great time enjoying a unique experience of music and lifestyle — we knew in 2016 we could turn it up a notch!”

Baltimore, Maryland’s own Silvertung will play a huge hometown show this summer.

Silvertung has been tapped to play the main stage at this year’s annual Shindig Music Festival. The festival will be held this year on September 19th at Carroll Park in Baltimore, Maryland. Interestingly enough the day-long festival actually features not one but two identical main stages. There will be NO OVERLAPPING SETS between the two stages. Godsmack will headline one of the stages while fellow veteran rock band Stone Temple Pilots will headline the other. Also on the bill for this year’s Shindig Music Festival are: Anthrax, Chevelle, Helmet, Reverend Horton Heat, Nothing More, and Crobot among others. More information on the lineup for this year’s Shindig Music Festival is available online along with all of the festival’s latest news at:

The 2013 edition of the annual Rock on the Range festival was one of the biggest that organizers of the annual event have ever experienced.  2013 saw the annual event completely sell out.  Seeing the success that the festival had in 2013, festival organizers have announced that the festival will now expand to three full days this year. The festival, which will run from May 16th – May 18th this year, will be headlined by three very big name acts.  Those acts are Guns N’ Roses, Avenged Sevenfold, and Kid Rock.

While the trio of aforementioned bands will headline the once again expanded festival (last year saw the festival expand to three nights) are big names in themselves, they won’t be the only bands to perform at this year’s show.  Also scheduled to perform this year are: Seether, Five Finger Death Punch, Slayer, Staind, Motorhead, Chevelle, Alter Bridge, Mastodon, Black Label Society and Killswitch Engage among many others.  The complete lineup of bands scheduled to perform at this year’s ROTR Festival is listed below.
