ESPN To Air Dale Earnhardt Documentary Sunday Ahead Of Daytona 500

ESPN will celebrate the life and legacy of a racing legend Sunday ahead of the Daytona 500.

The network will air its new E60 presentation Intimidator: The Lasting Legacy of Dale Earnhardt at noon ET. The program examines Earnhardt’s legacy, as the title suggests, including the impact that his death at the 2001 Daytona 500 had one safety innovations in NASCAR’s vehicles.

Reporter Ryan McGee — who cohosts Marty and McGeee with Marty Smith — will present the story. Over the course of the story, McGee interviewed figures, such as Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, and Steve Phelps among others for the presentation. Excerpts from the program will air on ESPN throughout the week on SportsCenter.

Additionally, McGree will make a special appearance on the ESPN Daily Podcast Friday. The special presentation will air subsequently on ESPN’s networks multiple times after its initial airing, for those who might not be able to catch the documentary Sunday.

Intimidator: The Lasting Legacy was co-produced by Scott Cikowski, Jason Kostura, and John Minton.

Lineup Change Announced For 2014 Carolina Rebellion Festival

The organizers of the Carolina Rebellion Festival have announced a change to the weekend of the annual concert festival. It has been announced that Motorhead will no longer be on the lineup for this year’s festival.

Organizers released the following statement regarding the lineup change: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have learned that Motorhead will be unable to perform at Monster Energy’s Carolina Rebellion in Concord, NC May 3rd. We are working hard to find a replacement artist, so stay tuned to http://www.CarolinaRebellion.com for further updates.”

The Carolina Rebellion Festival is the mid-Atlantic region’s biggest annual rock festival. It will return to Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC May 3rd and 4th, 2014. The current band lineup for this year’s edition of the Carolina Rebellion Festival is listed below.

NNS Series “Heats Up” This Weekend In Phoenix

NASCAR’s next generation heads out west this weekend.  The second race of the NASCAR Nationwide Series’ 2014 season takes the series to Phoenix International Speedway for the Blue Jeans Go Green 200.  ABC will have all of the action beginning with NASCAR Countdown at 3:30pm.  The green flag is expected to drop at 4pm ET/1pm PT.

All eyes will be on the current NNS points leader Regan Smith when the NASCAR Nationwide Series takes to the track at Phoenix International Speedway this weekend.  Smith, who has been an underdog since his NASCAR Sprint Cup debut at the 2007 Daytona 500, looks to keep his momentum going from last weekend’s huge win.  He currently sits atop the NNS points standings, six points ahead of Trevor Bayne, who won the 2011 Daytona 500.

Allen Bestwick will call all of the lap-by-lap action for Saturday’s broadcast.  He will be joined by former Winston Cup Champion and ESPN analyst Dale Jarrett and former crew chief Andy Petree.  More information on this weekend’s coverage is available online at http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar.

ESPN Networks To Offer Full Coverage Of NNS Season Opener

NASCAR official kicks off its 2014 season this Sunday with the annual running of the Daytona 500. Before NASCAR’s top names take to the track, the next generation of NASCAR will start their engines for the first time Saturday in the Drive4COPD 300 live on ESPN.  The green flag for Saturday’s race is expected to drop at 1:15pm ET.  Allen Bestwick will have lap-by-lap coverage of Saturday’s race.  He will be joined by veteran NASCAR driver and Winston Cup Champion Dale Jarrett and former crew chief Andy Petree.

Before NASCAR’s next generation starts its engines for the first race of the 2014 season, they must first qualify.  ESPN2 will carry live qualifying for the Drive4COPD Friday, February 21st at 1pm ET.

The weather is cold across much of the country.  But don’t tell organizers of the annual Summer concert festival series.  Details for the annual Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion Festival have been made official.  This year’s Carolina Rebellion Festival—the third of four events that comprise “The 2014 World’s Loudest Month–will be held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday and Sunday, May 3rd and 4th.  Avenged Sevenfold and Kid Rock will share headlining duties at this year’s festival.  They will be joined by Rob Zombie, Five Rob ZomFinger Death Punch, 311, Motorhead, Staind, Seether, Volbeat and more.  Avenged Sevenfold (also known by its fans as AX7) also performed at last year’s inaugural Carolina Rebellion Festival, which sold out.  The current performance schedule for this year’s festival is listed below.
