Kings Of Quarantine Debuts ‘Mountain Song’ Cover, Companion Video

Rock super group Kings of Quarantine debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band — Jason Rockman (Slaves on Dope), Kevin Jardine (Slaves on Dope), and Bill Kelliher (Mastodon) — debuted the video for its cover of the hit Janes Addiction song ‘Mountain Song‘ Tuesday. The band was joined by an all-star cast of musicians for the video and the song, consisting of: Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Tanner Wayne (In Flames), P-Nut (311), Louise Post (Veruca Salt), Richard Patrick (Filter), and Bert McCracken (The Used).

Kings of Quarantine’s take on ‘Mountain Song’ stays largely true to its source material. What it does extra is gives the song an added punch with its multiple vocal takes and even heavier, amped up guitars.

One hundred percent of sales from the single’s release will go to benefit Roadie Relief, an effort that serves to assist roadies who were negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rockman talked about that attempt to help concert staff through the song’s sales in a prepared statement.

“We hope to not only put a smile on people’s faces, but also help the touring staff that have been severely affected by the pandemic”, said Rockman.

Kings of Quarantine’s latest single and video are the second from the group. The trio covered Faith No More’s 1987 hit song ‘We Care A Lot‘ last year. The group was joined by members of Anthrax, Korn, Filter, Run DMC, Refused, and Men Without Hats for that recoding and its video.

As each day passes this month, Phil’s Picks is presenting its annual “Best of” lists.  That mass of lists launched yesterday with the year’s top new EPs.  Today, we move from EPs to albums.  Today’s list doesn’t focus on new albums, but album re-issues.  Make no bones about it, every year, hundreds of albums are re-issued both on CD and vinyl (as well as digital platforms).  So they are just as valid as being considered in any critic’s year-end lists as anything else.  Keeping that in mind, today Phil’s Picks is offering its list of the year’s Top 10 New CD Re-Issues.  This year’s list is topped by Diana Panton’s 2015 album I Believe in Small Things.  Also included in this year’s list of top re-issues are titles from Rich Robinson, Black Sabbath, Pain of Salvation and others.

As always, the list includes both the Top 10 records and five extra honorable mention titles for a total of 15 records.  Keeping that in mind, here for your consideration are the Phil’s Picks 2016 Top 10 CD Re-Issues

1) Diana Panton – I Believe In Small Things

2) Rich Robinson – Woodstock Sessions Volume 3

3) Rich Robinson – Through A Crooked Sun

4) Rich Robinson – Llama Blues

5) Allen Stone – Radius

Former Faith No More Front Man Releasing New Album

Former Faith No More front man Chuck Mosley will release his new solo album this summer.

Demos For Sale, the new album from Chuck Mosley (And The VUA) will be released on CD on Friday, July 8th and on limited edition vinyl LP formats on Friday, July 22nd.  The album will be released by EMP Label Group/eOne in North America and via EMP/SPV in Europe.  Its release comes through a partnership between the labels and THC : Music.  It can be pre-ordered online now here.

Demos For Sale is a compilation of demos and early mixes from the band’s 2009 album Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food.  Mosley discussed the albums’ comparison in a recent interview.  He shared his thoughts that the final product apparently was not what he had originally hoped for, thus leading to the upcoming release of Demos For Sale.  “While it was a great record for what it was, and a lot of people love it, Will Rap Over Hard Rock turned into a monster that I let get completely out of control with overdubs, over-production, my live tracks getting redone by God knows who..,” he said.  “Demos for Sale, is a choice version of the LP, before it mutated into Will Rap Over Hard Rock for Food, a little closer to how we wanted it to be – live, dirty and punk rock.. warts and all.”

Mosley will tour in support of his new record beginning next Thursday, May 19th in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  The tour currently runs through July 22nd in Northampton, MA.  Rob Roy–of Dead By Wednesday–and Opus will serve as support acts for the tour.  Mosley’s current tour schedule is noted below.
