Four years ago, the world was met with one of the worst nuclear disasters since the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. While the media beamed news of the Fukushima Daiichi disaster all around the world, it wasn’t the only Fukushima plant that faced peril after the earthquake that shook Japan that year. Another Fukushima plant came perilously close to disaster that day, too. but few if any knew about it. Now thanks to PBS’ hit science series NOVA, audiences will learn about that plant and the dangers it faced along with the one that made the world news in the new episode NOVA: Nuclear Meltdown Disaster.
NOVA: Nuclear Meltdown Disaster will be released on Tuesday, October 27th. It will be available on DVD and digital download. The presentation in this episode follows the Fukushima Daiichi disaster minute-by-minute. This includes both the Fukushima plant that everyone heard about and the one that far fewer knew about. It examines the role of both humans and nature in the fate of both plants. Along the way, viewers will get to see the efforts of the plants’ parent company TEPCO as it attempts to clean up the massive mess left behind by both plants and to re-open the second plant.
NOVA: Nuclear Meltdown Disaster will be available on Tuesday, October 27th on DVD and digital download. The DVD will retail for MSRP of $24.99.
