Collective Soul Launches New Eco-Friendly Merchandise Line

Courtesy: ABC-PR/One Golden Thread

Collective Soul has partnered with eco-friendly company One Golden Thread to release a new line of shirts.

The shirts are available online and at all of the band’s tour stops. According to information provided in a news release, the collaboration happened by chance. It states that Collective Soul front man Ed Roland had been wearing the company’s clothing for some time, and that when the company’s founder, Jeff Scult, learned of Roland’s love of the apparel, the two eventually got together at Roland’s home in Georgia and created the new “tree shirt.”

The term “tree shirt” is used because the cloth from which the shirt is made comes from regenerative beech trees, manufactured in love shops, and shipped in eco-friendly packaging.

On a related note, Roland and Scult have each lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s. In an effort to help fans who have also lost loved ones due to Alzheimer’s a new beech tree will be planted in honor of those fans’ loved ones when they purchase one of the new shirts. Additionally, a portion of proceeds from the shirts’ sales will go to benefit Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

Eddie And The Getaway Debuts New Single, ‘Silver Lining,’ Companion Video

Courtesy: Earshot Media

Independent music collective Eddie and the Getaway debuted its new single Friday, along with the song’s video.

The band kicked off the weekend by debuting its new single, ‘Silver Lining‘ and its companion video. The song was co-produced and co-written by ex-Cage The Elephants member Lincoln Parish.

Front man and band namesake Eddie Eberle discussed working with Parish on the song during a recent interview.

“‘Silver Lining’ is about seeing through the tough times to find the good in them,”  said Eberle. “I co-wrote and co-produced it with Lincoln Parish of Cage The Elephant after a conversation about how we have all gone through our own highs and lows when it comes to love and happiness. And as a new artist, I want my music to be a breath of fresh air and uplifting for the world.”

The musical arrangement featured in the song harkens back to the pop-rock sounds of the 90s and 2000s with its light guitar line and vocal harmonies. It lends itself to comparisons to works from the likes of Goo Goo Dolls, and The Killers.

The video for ‘Silver Lining’ blends footage of the band performing in what is meant to reflect a variety of live settings with a visual telling of a story about a happy young couple out and about.

Goo Goo Dolls Debuts ‘You Ain’t Getting Nothing’ Video

Courtesy: Warner Records

Goo Goo Dolls debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the video for its new single ‘You Ain’t Getting Nothin’‘ Thursday. ‘You Ain’t Getting Nothin’ is the fourth single from the band’s debut holiday album It’s Christmas All Over. Its premiere and that of its video follows that of the album’s singles: ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,’ ‘Let It Snow‘ and ‘This is Christmas.

The animated video for ‘You Ain’t Getting Nothin” pays tribute to animator Chuck Jones and Warner Brothers’ classic holiday special How The Grinch Stole Christmas right down to the animation style. A comparison to the work of Jones’ counterpart Tex Avery is also noticeable in the production.

Along with the animated tributes to Chuck Jones and Tex Avery, there is also a tribute to the classic TV series The Brady Bunch in one of the video’s repeated sequences. Additionally, it should be noted here that there is one scene involving the video’s antagonist (a young boy) drinking what is clearly a bottle of beer as he drives Santa’s sleigh. In other words, some viewer discretion is advised.

Goo Goo Dolls’ new single is not to be confused with the classic song ‘I’m Gettin’ nuttin for Christmas,’ which was made popular by child actor Shirley Temple decades ago. Rather, Goo Goo Dolls’ song is its own original, unique composition. The song’s bluesy swagger and lyrical content is a presentation that is sure to entertain audiences easily.

The lyrical theme that accompanies the song’s catchy musical arrangement adds its own kick to the overall presentation and is just aimed at older audiences as the companion video that tells the song’s story.

The track listing fir Its Christmas All Over is noted below. The album is available now.

IT’S CHRISTMAS ALL OVER TRACK-LISTING

1. Christmas All Over Again
2. Shake Hands With Santa Claus
3. This Is Christmas
4. Christmas Don’t Be Late
5. Better Days
6. You Ain’t Getting Nothin’
7. Let It Snow
8. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
9. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
10. The Christmas Party (Feat. The Union Square 5)

In more Goo Goo Dolls concert news, the band is scheduled to launch a new string of live North American dates July 22, 2021 in Nampa, ID support of Miracle Pill‘s re-issue.  The tour is scheduled to run through Aug. 18 in Boston, MA and to feature performances in cities, such as Holmdel, NJ; Morrison, CO and Huber Heights, OH.  The full tour schedule, which takes the band throughout the Midwest, is available at the band’s official website.

Goo Goo Dolls Debuts ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’ Lyric Video

Courtesy: Warner Records

Goo Goo Dolls debuted the video for its latest single this week.

The band debuted the lyric video for its take on the holiday standard ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing‘ Thursday. The video places the song’s lyrics in various places throughout New York City as the song plays over the black and white video. Audiences are taken to famous locations, such as Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and even into the city’s subways on a virtual tour of the city as the lyrics and song play out.

The group’s take on the song is far gentler than so many other renditions. Rather than the typical full orchestral compositions that listeners are so accustomed to hearing, Goo Goo Dolls’ takes a minimalist approach, featuring front man John Rzeznik singing against a gentle, flowing keyboard line.

Goo Goo Dolls’ new single and video are just the latest from the band’s first-ever holiday album It’s Christmas All Over. The band debuted the album’s most recent single, ‘This Is Christmas‘ last month and its companion video early this month.

Goo Goo Dolls debuted the compilation’s lead single — a cover of the holiday standard ‘Let It Snow‘ last month. The song premiered through USA Today.

8. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

In other news, Goo Goo Dolls is scheduled to perform its first-ever augmented reality movie musical “It’s Christmas All Over” Dec. 12. The event is in partnership with live-streaming music platform FanTracks.
