NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Kicks Off Its Post Season This Weekend

The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series wrapped up its regular season last week in Indianapolis. Now the countdown begins for the top spot in each divison of drag racing’s top series. And it all begins with full coverage on ESPN this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina.

ESPN will carry the opening round of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series’ Countdown To The Championship this weekend beginning Saturday night, September 19th with qualifying. Qualifying for the NHRA Carolina Nationals Saturday night at 11:30pm ET on ESPN2 and re-broadcast again Sunday morning, September 20th at 7am ET. Final eliminations will be broadcast Sunday night at 8:30pm ET on ESPN2. Fans can also follow final eliminations live online Sunday beginning at noon on ESPN3.

Dave Rieff will anchor this weekend’s coverage from the zMax Dragway. He will be joined in the booth by Mike Dunn. Gary Gerould and John Kernan will be in the pits with all the latest news from the weekend’s events.

Coming into the first round of the NHRA’s “post season” Tony Schumacher sits atop the Top Fuel Division. He is followed by DSR team mate Antron Brown. “Fast” Jack Beckman, who also drives for DSR (Don Schumacher Racing) is in the catbird seat in the Funny Car division. He is trailed by yet another DSR driver Matt Hagan. Erica Enders breaks the DSR dominance over in the Pro Stock division. She is trailed in second by Greg Anderson. And in the Pro Stock Motorcycle division Eddie Krawiec comes into the countdown on top.

ESPN Networks Open 14th Season Of NHRA Coverage This Weekend

The NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series kicks off its 2014 season this weekend on ESPN.

ESPN’s broadcast of the 54th annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals in Pamona, California kicks off the fourteenth season that the Worldwide Leader in sports has broadcast drag racing’s top series.  ESPN3 will carry live qualifying Friday, February 7th at 6:30pm ET.  Live eliminations will be carried on ESPN3 beginning Sunday, February 9th at 2pm ET.   Qualifying will be broadcast Saturday, February 8th at 11pm ET on ESPN2.  Final eliminations will be broadcast Sunday, February 9th at 8pm ET on ESPN.  Dave Rieff will anchor the weekend’s events.  He will be joined by analyst Mike Dunn.
