There’s big news for Pixies fans today.  The band—Black Francis (vocals/guitar), Joey Santiago (guitar/backing vocals), and David Lovering (drums/backing vocals)—has announced it has added new dates to its South American and European Spring/Summer 2014 tour.  The additional dates will see the band performing at some of the more well-known festivals across Europe and South America.  The South American leg of the band’s overseas tour kicks off March 29th with a two-day stint at Lollapalooza Chile in Santiago, Chile.  From there, the band will also perform at two more South American Lollapalooza dates along with two other festival dates in Uruguay and Colombia throughout April.  From there, the band will head overseas to Europe beginning with a two-day stay in Barcelona, Spain on May 29th and 30th.  The European leg of the band’s tour currently runs through July 6th.  The band’s current tour schedule is listed below, including its U.S. Winter dates.  Tickets for the band’s South American festival shows are available now, and can be ordered online at the band’s official website, http://pixiesmusic.com.

Paz Lenchantin (A Perfect Circle, Zwan, The Entrance Band) will join the band for all three legs of its upcoming tour.  She will handle bass duties throughout the tour. David Lovering discussed Lenchantin’s addition to the band’s lineup.  “We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates,” he said.  “Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we’re having a great time doing it.”

Eighties rock band The Pixies is back.  The band has announced that it has a new song titled, ‘bagboy’ and an accompanying video that is rather interesting to say the least.  The video includes a scene involving a tub full of fruit loops and milk and a young man bathing in it.  The young man in question also proceeds at the video’s end to destroy a house.  The video is available to view online now at http://pixiesmusic.com/new/?awesm=newpixi.es_bagboy

Along with the music—the first new material from the band in over two decades—the band has announced the first leg of what is a very extensive worldwide tour.  The first leg of the tour will take the band across Europe beginning in Olympia, Paris, France on September 29th.  From there, the band will crisscross the continent through October and November before closing out the first leg at London’s famed Hammersmith Apollo.  Full ticket and tour information is available online now at http:// pixiesmusic.com

Singer/guitarist Black Francis gave a hint as to what audiences could expect on this upcoming tour.  “Along with everyone’s favorites, we’ll be playing songs that we haven’t played in ages or never played live before,” he said.  “Songs like ‘Brick is Red,’ ‘Havalina,’ ‘Tony’s Theme.’ and ‘Sad Punk.’  We’ve probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we’ll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it.  We’re all really looking forward to this tour.”

More dates will be announced as the tour progresses.  Fans can keep up with all of the latest tour updates and news from the band online at http://pixiesmusic.com and http://www.facebook.com/pixiesofficial.
