Horisont Channels Phil Everly, Warren Zevon In New Cover Song

Horisont is turning back the clocks, so to speak, again.

The band premiered its take on the Phil Everly/Warren Zevon song, ‘Lion and the Lamb‘ Wednesday. The song is the second cover tune that the band has released this month. The band premiered its take of Larry Jon Wilson’s ‘Sheldon Churchyard’ July 9.

Both songs are exclusives from the band. Neither was featured in the band’s most recent album, Sudden Death. The album was released in May 2020 through Century Media.

Horisont works to stay as true as possible to the source material with its take on ‘Lion and the Lamb.’ However, the band gives the song its own unique, amped up take on the composition, right from the beginning with the guitar solo that builds into the song. By comparison, the Everly/Zevon original is much simpler and more straight forward. It is not a bad thing that Horisont changed things up a little here.

From that point on, Horisont stays true to the original song, just adding its own familiar classic rock influence to the mix. The richness in the sound is a tribute to the band’s work and to those responsible for the song’s production. It gives the original song a whole new life for an audience that might not have otherwise already known about this song. In turn, it will give a renewed attention and appreciation to the original song.

Horisont Debuts ‘Sheldon Churchyard’ Cover

Horisont returned this week with some new music.

The neo-classic rock band debuted its cover of Larry Jon Wilson’s ‘Sheldon Churchyard’ Friday, along with a companion video for the cover. The song is the band’s first new music in more than year, following the release of its album, Sudden Death last year.

Horisont’s take on the classic country tune stays true to its source material for the most part. Where it changes comes in the atmosphere that the band adds to the song. Wilson’s original composition features more of a bluesy style sound and stylistic approach. Meanwhile, Horisont’s take on the song infuses its more familiar neo-classic rock influence along with a touch of stoner rock to the whole to make the song a unique presentation.
