Courtesy: Nuclear Blast Records

Sepultura’s new “live” recording, SepulQuarta is now available.

The band released the collection of quarantined performances Friday through Nuclear Blast Records. The semi-live recording culls performances that the band recorded during its “SepulQuarta” video podcast throughout the pandemic. The performances were by famous figures, such as Phil Campbell, Devin Townsend, and Alex Skolnick.

Guitarist and founding member Andreas Kisser spoke highly of the collection of performances in discussing its release.

“The SepulQuarta album is probably the one I am most proud of!,” said Kisser. “2020 was the most difficult time for a band to survive, without the stage and the direct contact with the fans, but we managed to keep going strong and the album is a consequence of the unity plus the positive attitude from the band. The album sounds great, alive, and very real! All the guests did an amazing job and we feel more than ever that we have a huge Sepultura family out there. Thank you so much for everyone’s support and hope to see you all soon. This album is for you! Enjoy the music!”

In correlation with the recording’s release, the band premiered the video for its quarantine performance of its song, ‘Slave New World’ Friday with Trivium front man Matt Heafy. The video is the third from the recording. The band has also released videos for its quarantine performances of its songs, ‘Mask‘ and ‘Apes of God.’ Devin Townsend guested on ‘Mask’ while Death Angel’s Rob Cavestany appeared on ‘Apes of God.’

In other news, the band announced last month, it hopes to finally launch its “Quadra Tour” next spring. The band has scheduled the tour’s launch for March 4 in Sacramento, CA.

The tour was originally scheduled to take place in spring 2020, and was initially postponed until this year as a result of the impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 tour was then postponed because of the ongoing impacts of the pandemic.

Atreyu Debuts ‘Catastrophe’ Video

Courtesy: Spinefarm Records

Atreyu premiered the video for its latest single this week.

The band premiered the video for its latest single, ‘Catastrophe‘ Thursday. Its premiere comes more than a month after the band debuted the single by itself.

The debut of the single and its video follow the premieres of the album’s first two singles, ‘Warrior‘ and ‘Underrated.’ All three songs are featured on Atreyu’s forthcoming album, Baptize, which is scheduled for release June 4 through Spinefarm Records.

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Catastrophe’ follows the sound and stylistic approach of ‘Warrior.’ That is evidenced through the juxtaposition of the heavier guitar riffs and screams and the more melodic harmonies presented in the choruses. That is not to say that the two songs are identical. There are clear differences in the songs. As a matter of fact, the heavier, screams and guitars conjure thoughts of works from Atreyu’s counterparts, Killswitch Engage, Of Mice & Men, and As I Lay Dying.

The band explained the lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

“‘Catastrophe’ is, in essence, an apocolyptic love song,” the statement reads. “We took a more imaginative approach to the feelings about that we as individuals and the rest of the planet were going through. The world felt like it was falling apart around us. Nothing was certain, and stress and darkness were coming in from every angle. But living through it all with someone who you truly love somehow made it all okay.”

The new video for ‘Catastrophe’ pokes fun at all of the reaction videos that pollute the internet and the people who produce them. It features guest appearances from figures, such as Hyro The Hero, Trivium front man Matt Heafy, and Ice Nine Kills front man Spencer Charnas.

The track listing for Baptize is noted below.

BAPTIZE TRACK LISTING:
“Strange Powers of Prophecy”

Ice Nine Kills Debuts More Music From ‘The Silver Scream’ Final Cut; LP Re-Issue Available Now

Courtesy: Fearless Records

Ice Nine Kills debuted two more tracks from the brand new re-issue of its 2018 album The Silver Scream this week.

The band debuted the acoustic take of Michael Jackson’s hit song ‘Thriller‘ Friday.  The song presents an amped up take on the classic song, which featured a guest appearance by the late, great Vincent Price.  While Price is not featured in this exclusive to the brand new re-issue of The Silver Scream, the band does pay homage to him as well.

‘Thriller’ is just the latest song to be released from the re-issue of The Silver Scream.  The band debuted Thursday, the acoustic take of ‘Thank God It’s Friday,’ which was featured in a much heavier version in the band’s 2018 album.  That performance features a guest appearance by Ari Lehamn, the actor who first portrayed Jason in the very first Friday The 13th movie way back in 1980.

Lehman talked about taking part in the song’s new recording in a recent interview.

“I am honored to be singing alongside the amazingly talented Spencer Charnas on this track,” he said.  “Ice Nine Kills will captivate you with their virtuoso sound and compelling lyrics.  ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ has Vorhees power!”

Ice Nine Kills front man Spencer Charnas said he was just as happy to have Lehman take part in the song’s new recording as Lehman was to take part.

Friday The 13th and Jason have always been an obsession for me,” he said.  “When I had the idea to reach out to Ari about singing on our acoustic tribute, I never expected in a million years for it to actually happen.  To find out that Ari was not only a fan of INK, but 100% willing to join us on the track, was a moment I won’t soon forget.  He brings such a rich authenticity to this song with his charismatic voice, and his involvement helps elevate the piece to another level.  To hear the FIRST Jason from arguably one of the most iconic scenes in horror history sing the line, ‘He drowned in all our sins’ evokes the same goosebumps I got when I first saw the film.”

The band’s new take on ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ and its cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ are just the latest singles to be released from the brand new re-issue of The Silver Scream.  The band debuted the video for its acoustic take of ‘Stabbing in the Dark‘ Oct. 4.  The song featured a guest performance by Trivium front man Matt Heafy.

This past April, the band performed an acoustic take of ‘A Grave Mistake‘ live on Sirius XM.  That performance is also featured in this recording.

The original 2018 release of The Silver Scream produced the singles and videos for ‘Thank God It’s Friday,’ ‘Stabbing in the Dark,’ ‘A Grave Mistake‘ and ‘The American Nightmare,’ ‘Savages,’ ‘Enjoy Your Slay‘ and ‘Merry Axe-mas.’

The full track listing for the new re-issue of The Silver Scream is noted below.

THE SILVER SCREAM: FINAL CUT album will include the following track listing:
1. The American Nightmare
2. Thank God It’s Friday

Ice Nine Kills Debuts Video for ‘Stabbing In The Dark’ Acoustic Take

Ice Nine Kills debuted the video for its acoustic take of ‘Stabbing in the Dark‘ this week.

The band debuted the video Friday for the song, which is featured on the upcoming re-issue of the band’s 2018 album The Silver Scream.  The video features a family watching the original video for ‘Stabbing in the Dark‘ on a black and white television in a very 1950s living room setting.

The acoustic take of ‘Stabbing in the Dark’ features guest vocals from Trivium front man Matt Heafy.  Heafy talked about joining Ice Nine Kills for the recording during a recent interview, saying how happy he was to take part in the song’s re-imagining.

“Ice Nine Kills is one of the absolute best bands on the planet right now,” he said.  “With their blend of styles and sounds and unique imagery, they’ve crafted a world entirely their own.  Being such a big fan myself, I did an acoustic cover of ‘Stabbing in the Dark’ on my Twitch live one day.  Next thing I knew, INK checked it out and dug it — which I was honored to hear.  I can’t wait till the world hears this newly re-imagined version of this incredible song.  Watch as INK takes the world over.  Mark my words.”

INK front man Spencer Charnas responded to Heafy’s comments with his own positive remarks in a separate interview.

“We were devilishly delighted to find out that Matt was a fan of INK,” he said.  “When we heard his chill-inducing cover of ‘Stabbing in the Dark’, we knew right then and there that we had to collaborate with him.”

He added, “We have enormous respect for Matt’s abilities, and are honored to have him be a part of this spooky, almost folk-like rendition of the song.  He slaughtered this performance, and we can’t wait wait for people to hear it during our favorite month of the year.”

INK’s acoustic take of ‘Stabbing in the Dark’ with Matt Heafy is just one of the acoustic works featured in the band’s upcoming re-issue of The Silver Scream.  The re-issue will also feature an acoustic performance of the song ‘A Grave Mistake,’ which the band recorded live on Sirius XM and a new take of ‘Thank God It’s Friday,’ which features the original Jason actor Ari Lehman.

The re-issue’s track listing is noted below.

THE SILVER SCREAM: FINAL CUT album will include the following track listing:
