ESPN’s NFL Studio Shows Getting New Digs

ESPN;s NFL pre-game shows are moving in together.

Monday Night Countdown and Sunday NFL Countdown will now air from a climate-controlled rooftop studio in New York City.  The move is the result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Additionally, ESPN’s NBA Countdown will originate from the studio, which gives its hosts a clear view of the East River, Brooklyn Bridge, and Brooklyn Heights.

ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown aired live from ESPN’s Bristol, CT studios in seasons past while Monday Night Countdown aired on site weekly from the site of each of ESPN’s featured weekly games.

The gang will be back together on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown‘s.  Tedy Bruschi, Matt Hasselbeck, Randy Moss and Rex Ryan will return for the weekly broadcast.  host Sam Ponder will also return to host.  This year will mark her fourth year as the show’s anchor and her 10th year covering the NFL with ESPN.

Along with the studio talent, reporters Sal Paolantonio, Kimberley A. Martin, Dianna Russini, Ed Werder, Jeff Darlington, and Dan Graziano will all return for this season’s broadcasts.  They will be on site at various NFL stadiums throughout the season.  Paolantonio recently celebrated his 25th year with ESPN.

The reporters’ assignments for Week 1 of the 2020 season are noted below.

• Paolantonio – Philadelphia at Washington
• Graziano – Miami at New England
• Russini – Green Bay at Minnesota
• Martin – Cleveland at Baltimore
• Darlington – Tampa Bay at New Orleans
• Werder – Dallas at Los Angeles Rams

While fans can expect to see plenty of familiar faces on Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown will have at least one new face this season.  Two-time Super BowlChampion Booger Mcfarland will join Randy Moss and three-time Super Bowl champion/Super Bowl MVP/Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Steve Young for that program.

Host Suzy Kolber returns to host the show for her fourth consecutive season.  ESPN Insider Adam Schefter will also return as a regular.

ESPN’s season premiere of Monday Night Countdown will preview the Steelers/Giants – Titans/Broncos double header schedule that will open the network’s annual Monday Night Football schedule.  The schedule launches Sept. 14.

NBA Postseason Coverage Continues This Weekend On ESPN’s Networks

The NBA postseason continues this weekend on the ESPN family of networks.

ESPN leads the way tonight with coverage of Game 1 between the The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers.  Coverage is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. ET.

Mark Jones will anchor tonight’s broadcast.  He will be joined by analyst Mark Jackson for additional commentary.  Reporter Cassidy Hubbarth will provide the latest in-game news.

Houston comes into this latest round of the postseason after winning its previous series four games to three over the Oklahoma City Thunder.The Rockets finished off that series Wednesday after defeating the Thunder 104-102.

The Lakers meanwhile have had a little more downtime after taking their first-round series against the Portland Trailblazers Saturday in game five.  The Lakers won that game 131-122.

While the added rest can potentially benefit the Lakers coming into tonight’s second-round opener against Houston, the Rockets’ momentum is potentially just as beneficial for Houston.

The ESPN networks’ coverage of the semifinals continues Sunday with two games on ABC.  The Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat at up first at 3:30 p.m. as they continue their best-of-seven series.  Miami leads the Eastern Conference matchup two games to none.  The series’ third game will take place tonight on TNT.

Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, and Mark Jackson will call Sunday afternoon’s game.  Reporter Malika Andrews will have all of that game’s latest headlines.

The Lakers and Rockets continue their series in the second game on the day on ABC’s schedule.  Coverage of the game is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. ET.  Breen, Van Gundy, and Jackson will anchor the broadcast. Hubbarth will have all of the game’s latest news.

NBA Countdown presented by Draft Kings will precede each of ABC’s games, with the afternoon broadcast scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET and even coverage at 8 p.m. ET.  Maria Taylor will anchor the pre-game (and halftime) broadcasts.  Analysts Paul Pierce, Jalen Rose, Stephen A. Smith, and Jay Williams will join her for additional commentary.

ESPN Networks To Offer Extensive NBA Finals Coverage

ABC will have full coverage of this year’s NBA Finals.

The stage is set for this year’s clash of the champions as LeBron James and the defending NBA Champion Cavaliers facing Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors for this year’s title.  ABC, which is part of the ESPN family of networks, will carry full coverage of this year’s championship series between the teams starting Thursday, June 1 at 9 p.m.

Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson and Doris Burke will call the series for its eighth consecutive year together.  Steve Javie will also be on hand offering analysis on the game’s officiating.

This year’s NBA Finals marks the third straight year that the Cavs and Warriors have vied for the league’s top spot.  It marks the 15^th consecutive year that ESPN has produced the NBA Finals on ABC.  The series will be simulcast on ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and online via the ESPN app.

Marc Kestecher will anchor ESPN Radio’s broadcast of the series alongside Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and analyst Hubie Brown and reporter Marc Stein.  This year is ESPN Radio’s 22^nd consecutive year covering the NBA Finals.  Kevin Winter and analyst Jon Barry will provide pre-game coverage live on-site leading up to each game.

ESPN’s The Jump and NBA Countdown will provide additional NBA Finals coverage throughout the series.  The Jump will air on-site throughout the series from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. while NBA Countdown will air before each game and during halftime.  The pre-game show will be evenly split between ESPN and ABC.

As if that is not enough coverage, ESPN’s First Take will also offer its own special coverage with several special prime-time broadcasts.  ESPN3 will also offer a second-screen digital look at pre-game warm-ups, post-game press conferences and much more.

ESPN International will broadcast each game internationally in Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean and Pacific Rim region.

Cavs, Warriors Take The Spotlight In ESPN Networks’ NBA Coverage This Week

ESPN and the ESPN networks have another busy week of basketball ahead of them this week.

Officials with ESPN announced today the networks’ NBA broadcast schedule.  This week’s schedule kicks off tonight with a cross conference showdown between the Rockets and the Cavaliers.  LeBron James and the Cavaliers play host tonight to James Harden and the Houston Rockets in the Quicken Loans Arena.  The game will air live on ESPN Radio with Marc Kestecher on the call.  He will be joined by Jon Barry for additional commentary.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm ET.  Cleveland has already clinched the Central Division in the East, and also sits atop the conference, three games ahead of second place Toronto.  A win tonight for Cleveland will hold that lead while a loss will allow the Raptors to close that gap just a little bit more.  Tonight’s game means just as much for Houston.  That is because the Rockets currently sit at the bottom of the Western Conference’s playoff ladder.  A win could potentially keep them in the hunt for the seventh spot on the ladder.  That spot is currently held by the Jazz.

After taking a couple of days off, the action picks back up Friday with a double-header.  Up first Friday night is yet another matchup with huge playoff implications as the Cavs are on the road against the Hawks.  Atlanta currently sits third in the East eight games back from Cleveland.  It is sure to be an even matchup for both teams.  Atlanta is 24 – 13 at home so far this season while Cleveland is 22 – 15 on the road.  Mark Jones will have the call for the game.  He will be joined by Hall of Famer and analyst Hubie Brown for additional commentary.  Reporter Chris Broussard will be courtside for all of the game’s latest headlines interviews, and more.  The game will air live at 8pm ET on ESPN.

Friday’s second game will see Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors host Isiah Thomas and the Boston Celtics as the Warriors’ quest for history continues.  Boston currently sits fifth in the East while Golden State leads the West.  The Warriors have also already clinched the Pacific division in the West.  Mike Tirico will have the call for the game, which is scheduled for a 10:30pm ET tipoff on ESPN.  He will be joined by Jon Barry for additional commentary.  Reporter J.A. Adande will be courtside throughout the game for all of the game’s latest headlines and interviews.

Before the first ball goes in the air Friday night Sage Steel, Jalen Rose, and Chauncey Billups will have a preview of the night’s games on NBA Countdown charged by Mountain Dew at 7:30pm ET on ESPN.

ESPN Networks Focus On Conference Rivalries In This Week’s NBA Coverage

The ESPN networks have another busy week of basketball for this week. And it all begins this afternoon on ESPN.

ESPN and its family of networks have another week of extensive NBA coverage for fans this week. It all begins this afternoon on ESPN with another new episode of The Jump. Host Rachel Nichols will have all of the latest NBA headlines. She will be joined by Tracy McGrady and Zach Lowe for insight and commentary into each headline. That is at 3pm ET on ESPN. Doris Burke, Jalen Rose, and Chauncey Billups pick things up at 7:30pm ET on ESPN’s NBA Countdown charged by Mountain Dew. The half-hour pre-game show will come ahead of tonight’s Eastern Conference match between the Wizards and Bulls. Chicago is in last place in the Eastern Conference’s playoff race while Washington is currently out of the hunt for a spot in the post season. So both teams will be playing hard albeit for different reasons. The Spurs and Kings round out the days’ coverage in the late game. Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 10:30pm ET on ESPN. Mark Jones and Mark Jackson will have the call for the game. Sacramento is well out of the playoff race. San Antonio on the other hand currently sits second in the Western Conference behind Golden State, which currently leads the conference at 50 – 5 so far on the season.

The ESPN networks’ NBA Coverage continues Thursday night on ESPN Radio as the Thunder host the Warriors in another Western Conference matchup with major playoff implications. Oklahoma City currently sits third in the Western Conference at 40 – 16, which is well back from the conference and league–leading Warriors (50 – 5). Rachel Nichols will have a preview of Thursday night’s game on Thursday afternoon’s edition of The Jump. Raja Bell and Zach Lowe will join Nichols for the 3:30pm ET broadcast on ESPN.

ESPN’s NBA coverage returns to television Friday evening in a double header schedule. First up on the schedule is an Eastern Conference matchup between the Bulls and Hawks. Both teams will be playing for their playoff lives in Friday night’s game. Atlanta currently sits sixth overall in the Eastern Conference, two games back from the conference-leading Cavaliers. Chicago meanwhile sits last in the conference’s playoff race eleven games back from Cleveland. Mark Jones will have the call for the game. He will be joined by Doris Burke for additional commentary. Later Friday night the Grizzlies and Lakers face off in the night’s Western Conference showdown. The Lakers (11 – 47) are at the bottom of the Western conference and completely out of the playoff picture. Memphis is still in the playoff picture, sitting fifth in the conference fourteen and a half games back from Golden State. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 10:30pm ET on ESPN. Dave Pash will have the call for the game. He will be joined by Jon Barry for additional commentary. Sage Steele, Jalen Rose, and Doug Collins will lead off the evening on ESPN’s NBA Countdown at 7:30pm ET. Earlier in the afternoon Rachel Nichols, Raja Bell, and Zach Lowe will preview both of the evening’s games on The Jump. That will be at 3:30pm ET on ESPN.

Golden State and Oklahoma round out the week’s NBA coverage on the ESPN networks Saturday on NBA Primetime on ABC. The game will be simulcast on ABC and ESPN Radio with tipoff scheduled for 8:30pm ET on ABC. Mike Breen will have the call for Saturday night’s game on television. ESPN Kicks Off Its 2015 NBA Pre-Season Broadcast Schedule Next Week

The NBA is a little more than a week away from the start of its 2015 – 2016 season. And as fans and teams alike count down to the start of the new season, they are getting warmed up with the league’s annual slate of preseason games, which kicked off earlier this month. Now as the clock ticks ever closer to the start of the new season ESPN has announced the schedule for its preseason coverage.

Officials with ESPN announced this week that the worldwide leader in sports will tip off its 2015 NBA preseason coverage next Tuesday, October 20^th. The network will open its preseason coverage with a match-up between the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors and in-state rival Los Angeles Clippers. Mike Breen will have the call for the game, which is scheduled for a 10:30pm ET tip-off. Breen will be joined by analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson for additional commentary and insight.

Tuesday evening’s broadcast will be followed Wednesday, October 21^st with a showdown between the Wizards and Heat live from American Airlines Arena. That game is scheduled for an 8pm ET tip-off. Veteran play-by-play man Mark Jones will have the call for that game. He will be joined in the booth by ESPN NBA analyst Hubie Brown. ABC Gets New NBA Broadcast In 2016

The 2014 – 2015 NBA season is officially wrapped. The NBA Draft presented by State Farm is done. But that doesn’t mean that things have cooled down in the NBA.

ESPN President John Skipper announced alongside Disney/ABC TV President Ben Sherwood today that the ESPN networks will expand their NBA coverage in the New Year. The pair announced that beginning Saturday, January 23rd, ESPN on ABC will present a new Saturday night NBA broadcast. Dubbed Saturday Night NBA on ABC, the broadcast will run for a total of eight games on ABC. Tipoff for each game on the schedule is expected for 8:30pm. NBA Countdown will precede each week’s telecast at 8pm ET. Sherwood was ecstatic in announcing ABC’s partnership with ESPN for the broadcasts saying, “Through our great partnership with ESPN, we’re thrilled to be able to bring the best in basketball to our prime-time viewers on Saturdays beginning this January while building on our great Sunday afternoon NBA lineup.” Skipper noted the importance of the new program in regards to its impact on the relationship between ESPN and the NBA noting that “The creation of Saturday Night NBA on ABC is an important moment in the long, successful relationship between ESPN and the NBA. The NBA’s massive popularity continues to open doors for new, collaborative opportunities, and this new series demonstrates ESPN’s commitment to showcase the NBA as often – and across as many platforms – as possible.” He expanded on that thought explaining the expectations of having some of the biggest rivalries on ABC as well as some of the most talked about story lines in the NBA among much more. “Saturday night games will be highlighted by the NBA’s biggest stars, top rivalries and most compelling storylines,” he said. “We expect to establish this series as a big-game destination for NBA fans, along the lines of what we’ve accomplished in college football with Saturday Night Football on ABC.”

NBA Finals Game Three Tips Off AT 9pm Tonight On ABC

The 2014 NBA Finals are “heating up” after Miami evened its series against the San Antonio Spurs Sunday. The Heat defeated the Spurs Sunday 98-96, tying the series at one game each. Game three will be broadcast exclusively on ABC tonight at 9pm ET. Mike Breen will have the call for tonight’s game. He will be joined by analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. Reporter Doris Burke and officiating analyst Steve Javie will also be on hand for commentary.

Broadcast of tonight’s Game Three will be preceded by NBA Countdown live from the American Airlines Arena in Miami at 8:30pm ET. Sage Steel will anchor the broadcast and will be joined by analysts Bill Simmons, Jalen Rose, and Doug Collins.

Along with its broadcast on ABC, tonight’s broadcast of Game Three will be simulcast on ESPN Radio affiliates nationwide. Kevin Calabro will have the call. He will be joined by analyst Hubie Brown and reporter Marc Stein for additional insight throughout the game. ESPN Radio’s pre-game coverage begins at 8pm ET. Game Four of the 2014 NBA finals will be simulcast on ABC, ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes Thursday, June 12^th at 9pm ET. Game Five is scheduled for Sunday, June 15^th at 8pm ET. Both games will be preceded by NBA Countdown half an hour before tipoff.
