Shout! Factory and GKids have partnered to bring home yet another anime offering from Nippon TV and famed anime director Kenji Kamayana
Napping Princess will be released January 30 on Blu-ray in stores and online. Nominated for Best Animated Feature — Independent in the 2018 Annie Awards, the movie is set in the year 2020, three days ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. Lead character Kokone Morikawa (voiced by Mitsuki Takahata — Botanical Books, Rage, Jossy’s in its original overseas release) has to save her father after he is kidnapped for stealing technology from a very powerful company.
Kokone is joined by her friend Morio (Shinnosuke Mitsushima — Blade of the Immortal, Erased, Doctor X) in her perilous journey. During her search for her father, Kokone and Morio realize that Kokone’s dream world, called Heartland, holds the key to the tech that her father stole. This revelation eventually leads to an even bigger revelation about kokone’s family that is revealed by the story’s end.
The movie is complimented in its upcoming release with a handful of bonuses including an interview with Kamiyana, cast interviews, trailers and much more. Pre-orders for the movie are available now here.
